Dial-A-Song Tribute

On alt.music.tmbg, Asa Pillsbury came up with the suggestion to create a fan-made tribute to the unreleased songs of Dial-A-Song. TMBW.Net has offered to host the signup, and can host the tracks as they are submitted.

How can I contribute?

Song eligibility

All you need to do is pick a TMBG song that was on Dial-A-Song, but has never later been officially re-recorded by the band. Then record your own rendition of it! Get creative!

Eligible songs should not have an official re-recorded release by the band. As an example, "Cabbagetown" (once a Dial-A-Song demo) is not eligible because of its later studio recording on the I Palindrome I EP. However, a song like "Somebody's Body," a Dial-A-Song track later re-released in higher-fidelity on TMBG Unlimited (but not re-recorded) is acceptable.

Submitting your cover

Once your cover is ready, submit an MP3 of your recording one of two ways:

  1. Upload it via the Upload page.
  2. Email it to tmbw.net@gmail.com.

On your MP3's ID3 tag, please enter the following information:

  • Your artist name
  • Song title
  • Album: Dial-A-Song Tribute (for now, until a permanent name is settled on)

If you choose to upload your submission to TMBW, please send us an email containing a link to the file, so that we have your email address on record and can contact you with updates on the project.

Once the file has been uploaded, feel free to add it to this page by putting it on the bottom of the "Covers that have been submitted" list. The File parameter must match the filename of the MP3 you have uploaded.

There is currently no deadline for submissions, but one will be added as time goes by, so don't delay! We can't wait to hear your contributions!

To sign, please log into TMBW and sign your name by typing --~~~~ (two dashes and four tildes), or insert your signature automatically by clicking the signature button button. Please add your entry to the bottom of the list.

Note: Multiple people can cover the same song, within reason. Signing your name on this list is not mandatory for submitting a song, but it helps us to understand how many people are going to be involved in the tribute. Also, you can submit multiple songs, but we will probably only select one for the final track listing.
