Songs to Include?[edit]

Here's some more songs that could potentially be included. What does anyone think...do they qualify? --Duke33 21:44, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I have no objection to stuff that was later released on TMBG UnLtd or podcast, as long as it wasn't re-recorded. But I do think "Next Plane to London" should be excluded, at least from the eventual album, on the grounds that it's a cover. (And "Nice Is Good, Mean Is Bad" too, on the grounds that it's utterly horrible. ;) --Bryce
I added those four to the page. I'm sure there must be some more! --Duke33 17:37, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Dang, I wanted to do Cabbagetown, but it's on the I Palindrome I EP. Mr. 77

Is Monsters Of Mud eligible? I love that song, but I haven't been able to hear it in years. --My Evil Twin's Twin (6-22-08)

Did that one ever show up on DAS? I know it was on dialasong.com...But I would say that a polished, studio-like version was released with TMBG Unltd, so probably not, unfortunately. That would have been a fun one though. --Duke33 17:37, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to hear "No Answer"? :} It's times like these that I wish I could sing... --Henry 21:03, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I see "Kings of the Cave" on the list, but I'm not certain it was ever on Dial-a-Song. That TMBGU recording of it is from a live performance. Similarly with "Tiny Doctors," it's certainly plausible that it would have been on DAS, but unconfirmed as far as I know. I love these songs, and don't mind hearing them covered, but if the album theme is going to hold water I'm not sure we should include them. Then again, I'm not sure how much I really care, if the covers are good. :) --Bryce

I want someone to cover Kings of the Cave so bad! It's one of my all time favorite songs. --Valerie 18:45, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

If we go with Redial: Here's a quick pass at some cover art. Opinions and other proposals are welcome of course. (Yes, I'm aware that a rotary dial is operated in the clockwise direction, and "unwinds" counterclockwise. What I wanted was for the arrow to go against that, i.e backwards, to imply movement backward in time.) --Bryce

Is there a way that we could set it up so we could have the users vote for the titles kinda like how you can vote for the song ratings, but instead of 1-10, have it be Yes or No? --Tedadore2 20:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

In my opinion, in this case, general discussions to find consensus would work better. Also in my opinion, "Redial" is genius. But keep the ideas coming in! ~ magbatz 20:54, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Does it matter...[edit]

Despite the fact that I don't sing so well, I'd still like to try my hand at this, but I've never actually heard most of these old dial-a-song songs. Does it matter if I make up the tune for my cover? Also, the song I'm considering has got a (?) in the lyrics, should I just guess what the missing word is? Yoyogod 02:21, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Four Of Two[edit]

May I do "Four Of Two"? The original version with the guy who strangles himself? I think the version they have released is different enough to be considered a completely different song, but I understand if it's too similar to be considered. --Ana 16:24, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

We're trying to avoid (at the moment) songs that have been published under BMI, which "Four of Two" was.
