- In an interview with Jim Harrington, Flansburgh said of the song: "That's a (messed) up little song. 'King of Wingo' is a minor effort, but it's got its charms. I don't think you'll be seeing it on a major label release anytime soon."[1]
- The lyric, "Then there were eight on the scene / And the little one screamed" is likely an allusion to the children's counting song "Ten in the Bed," which begins, "There were ten in the bed / And the little one said."
