Fan Recaps and Comments:[edit]
- My very first TMBG show! The band was great and seemed to be in a perfect silly mood. Was thrilled that they played You Probably Get That A Lot- a lovely unexpected surprise for me (I've been trying not to look at the previous setlists for this tour too closely, so this may not be the first time they played it).
- At the beginning, Flansburgh said he caught the Cubs game earlier that day, and Linnell that he went to the Field Museum and saw taxidermied animals.
- Linnell told a story about going to Austria and getting in trouble for jaywalking. When they eventually played Snowball in Hell, he changed the Joe/Paul exchange from "You must be making a lot of sales, piling up a good income" to something like "You must be getting yelled at by a lot of angry Austrian ladies for putting your foot in the street."
- At one point (I think after accidentally skipping over something on the set list?), Flansburgh said something about how the band had accidentally started two different songs at the same time before. He then gave the wiki a shout-out and said they should add a new page for "Songs That The Band Has Accidentally Started Playing At The Same Time On Stage" or something like that. Because of the wiki's "On This Day" feature, he and Linnell went on to reminisce about past May 1st shows. Wound up with Flansburgh saying, "And then there was that one at the Vic in 2026..." and Linnell: "I remember it like it was yesterday."
- My second ever concert, second TMBG concert, and first concert in general admissions! I went with my sister and had a great time :) (despite the pain in my neck, knees, and lower back)
- During the glasses-vs-beard check, I raised my glasses high above my head and Flans acknowledged it! Speaking of things Flansy acknowledged, he said something about being distracted by the smell of weed smoke, which I can verify was pretty noticeable.
- There were two unaffiliated people with very cool make-up that Linnell thought were mimes. After being told they weren't mimes, Flansburgh responded saying that mime was a strong word.
- P.S. I felt like I was the only one chanting "stick! stick! stick!" when the stick came on stage
- Really great show and set. The Istanbul performance was phenomenal. Felt like Nelson watching Andy Williams. As everyone was leaving, there was this dickhead from the chicken place up the street doing a livestream to promote the store. Said "I've heard the show was great...but our chicken is greater!"
