Librariankaisa:

My first ever TMBG show, and what a show it was. I'd been to the venue before (I saw The Aquabats there 6 years prior) so I was sorta familiar with it. This show's theme was LINCOLN!!!! I was hoping it would be either that or Mink Car (which I don't think they're doing this tour). I got so excited when Flans said it was a Lincoln show, I really need to relisten to that album, lol.
Before set #1 they played Million Dollar Baby (which at that time I hadn't heard in like, a year or two) and What A Man (the original I think it was) The intermission music before set #2 was even weirder. They played Hole, I Saw The Sign, In Da Club by 50 Cent, and even 100 gecs??? 😭
It was great hearing Pencil Rain live. I had been watching a lot of Malcolm In The Middle at the time, so all I could think of during that song was "He's in a wheelchair AND he has glasses!" lmao
Before They'll Need A Crane, Flans talked a bit about Dial-A-Song and the types of messages people would leave (back when you could still leave messages). To quote him directly: "I would often come home to like, 25 minutes of messages and people would be like, 'Yeah your songs kinda suck'." 😂
During set 1, they jokingly compared their concerts to NPR, and the plugs for The World Is To Dig to their pledge drives. Whenever Flans would mention it, he'd hold up a signed copy of it on vinyl. He gave that copy to a fan in the audience, and whenever they'd mention the album, the fan would hold it up. According to Reddit, they got to keep it! Lucky!!
Linnell and Flans did some funny improv during Snowball In Hell (during the part of the song that samples "How To Master Time Organization"). Linnell used the word "pile" and variations of it a lot.
"You must be piling up a lot of piles... pilin' up, a big pile of.. Income pile... Making a lot of ssssales of... Whatever those piles are that you're selling... of piles."
After the show, I got Marty to sign the Flood picture disc I got at the merch table (which was already pre-signed by the Johns!) I think he's my favorite non-John now.
Someone got Marty to sign their shoe lol.
11/10 would go again
