*John Linnell was Juicing

This was my first They Might Be Giants show, as I am only 16 and couldn't go last year when they came around.
I arrived at the venue just after 7 o'clock, and the doors had just opened. Even so, the line stretched almost all the way around The Orange Peel. By the time my brother and I got there, a huge crowd was congregating around the stage. I looked to my brother and said something like, "Yeah, we are not getting front row." I told him that I was going to go buy some merchandise, and he should try to get a good spot.
I got into the very long merch line, and ended up buying a signed copy of "Flood" and 2 t-shirts for my brother and me. When I started looking for my brother again, about 15 minutes before the show started, he somehow squeezed into the second row and saved a spot for me- to the left of Linnell and right in front of Danny. After I showed him my signed "Flood", he decided to buy his own before they sold out. He left for the merchandise table, and I got my first real look at the stage-
The first thing that I noticed was Linnell's famous "Main Squeeze" accordion. It was so crazy to see it in person. Other notable things: Linnell's blue keyboard stand was very cool, Marty's bass drum head had the jackrabbit looking thing on it, Flans had his famous tele.
Okay, now for the actual show-
The stompy intro started playing, and the lights turned down low. Everyone started cheering, and Marty came out, followed by the Dans and then the Johns. Not gonna lie, seeing John Linnell and Flansburgh in person was so crazy to me. I have been watching them on DVDs since I was like 5. Anyways, Linnell walked over and picked up his accordion, and everyone went quiet. I could hear a pin drop. It was incredibly dark in the peel. Then, Linnell jumped straight into Subliminal. After he played the first chord, everyone knew what song it was. Screams and cheers erupted, and the lights beamed on. After Subliminal, Flans announced what everyone had figured to be true: this was a John Henry-themed show. After he finished talking, I yelled "Go Flans". Nobody got the reference.

This is my testimony.
