In a 2008 newsletter, John Flansburgh himself has claimed credit for the ''Miscellaneous T'' artwork. Could this be a signal of Mr. Conant's untimely death? Or, could this be a scheme of Flansburgh's to finally cannibalize the efforts and achievements of his creative arch-rival? Rolf Conant is an alias used by John Flansburgh for various They Might Be Giants-related art projects and solo projects.

"Conant" is both Flansburgh's middle name and the street he grew up on (Conant Rd, Lincoln, MA), and "Rolf" was chosen because it sounded like a "nice German name." As a home recording enthusiast, Mr. Conant allegedly formed the Hello The Band project with Joshua Fried and contributed lead vocals and guitars on the band's eponymous EP.

Aside from Hello the Band, Flansburgh's Conant alias has been involved with some art direction for TMBG, including the Miscellaneous T and Apollo 18 album artwork. Conant appeared in Art In Context, a 1985 satirical zine by Flansburgh and Bill Krauss.
