i actually have not scanned the vinyl cover of the else yet... that might be a summer project. when it is up here, it will be free to grab.

the electric car picture there is a fairly photoshop-corrected version of a photograph that someone took of the disc, which was sent to me. i just made the picture look like a semi-legitimate picture. -- 22:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Chiptunes

Hey! I always search the internet for 8bit covers of TMBG songs, but they're hard to come by. I made a version of "The End of the Tour" that actually ended up being in two separate episodes of Theynow (he didn't realize it had already been used once), and I have it posted on Myspace, here, though I don't really check my profile all that often; Myspace is dying out. Other TMBG songs I've made: partial covers of Monsters of Mud, Yeh Yeh, The Bells Are Ringing, and Doctor Worm. I usually get about halfway through and then realize it's either A) Too difficult to finish, or B) Lose interest. The End of the Tour is the only song I've actually completed from beginning to end. i would but i can't because it's not a proper page. any special page is generated on the fly by the software. what you're going to want to do is ask brad to manually edit your collection to remove the ghost item. in the future, if a release doesn't have a UniqueID, try to make sure that nobody is marked as owning something before editing its catalogue; that's how the collection system recognizes releases if they have no UID. -- 02:46, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

WDTSS

Why did you upload that new image for WDTSS EP? I see it's less than half the size, but frankly, the compression makes it looks bad. The edges of the guy are worse and some of the lines aren't full, and the letters don't look as good. basically, i uploaded it, because, for instance, the yellow, is supposed to be one solid colour. same with the white, and the black. i was in a bit of a rush when i did it, and i agree the letters and the guy don't look superb (see this is why it's good when people care), but i don't think the edges are an issue. they're a bit sharper, but not super-jaggedy. also, in this case, the "compression" is not the issue. anyway, i'll redo it a bit slower sometime today. -- 20:26, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

well, the image is losslessly compressed as a full-colour png, but that doesn't affect how it looks (which is indeed the point of that kind of png). -- 20:37, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Scans

So if I was to scan some things with my fancy new scanner, like say, this, is there a preferred resolution/file size/format I should use? I am a complete novice at scanning but I have a bunch of potentially worth while stuff that should probably take a pass through the scanner. Aye -- it's not bad, but it's pretty much high-quality office paper rather than, y'know, the slick stuff they usually use for CD inserts. BTW -- There's no actual release date really for promo singles -- so probably "May" would work, if it works for you. i can only assume you're looking for a nicer version of this. in that case, the original Bar/None or even Elektra CDs might be a better bet, since the ESD CD has some colour and cropping issues. anyway, scanning through folds (particularly ones with staples in them) is never very fun. i'll see what i can do, but with a combination of the difficulty and my CDs currently not living with me, it could take quite a while. (unless someone wants to sacrifice their booklet and mail me that outer sheet.... yeah, i thought so). -- 14:47, 1 October 2013 (EDT)

Personal image

Sorry about that! When I uploaded the photo, I'd read the This_Might_Be_A_Wiki:Image_use_policy but hadn't seen/read the part on Special:Upload where it said personal images aren't allowed, as I thought the four collapsed sections there were for help rather than what not to do. As soon as I saw it, I tried to find a way to delete the image, but you managed to get it sorted within five minutes of uploading. Sorry again, and thanks for sorting it out :)

Merge "When The Lights Come On" / "...Light Comes On" duplicate ratings?

Hello! I've posted this on the talk pages of the other admins as well, because (while not the biggest problem in the world), it's enough of a problem for it to be problematic. There are two duplicate entries for the same song, "When The Lights Come On", on the ratings leaderboard, caused by the page title changing from the former song title of "When The Light Comes On". Some people rated the song before the page title changed to the correct title, so now the exact same song appears twice on the leaderboard (once at #2 and once at #88). Is there any way you can transfer / delete the ratings of the incorrect duplicate "Light Comes" version and add them to the correct "Lights Come" version? Like, this would be the difference between the song being #2 on the leaderboard and #40-ish on the leaderboard. Thanks so much for your help; we really appreciate it! Profile Page Protection

there isn't any specific way of protecting a page in such a way, but that is an extremely uncommon occurrence, so it can be dealt with on a case by case basis. i've left a note for that person asking that they refrain from doing that in the future. sorry about that, and welcome to the wiki! -- 18:31, 8 January 2019 (EST)
