That was my fault. Hey, is the pot smoking and whatnot really terrible or just occasional? How bad is Atlanta and Savannah? --Dunklekuh81
Figured I'd Ask
I was just at theymightbegiants.com, and I was reading the article They have recently linked to. Now, should this article go in the News section? Or do we not bother, since They have already linked to it else where? It's http://www.vcreporter.com/article.php?id=5225&IssueNum=143 if anyone wants to check it out, it's really good!
- It is a good article, definitely, but since there's no "news" in it, I'd say to hold off on a main page link. When they're out touring, they usually get write-ups like this in every city they play, if we linked to every article, it'd flood the main page news. --Duke33 13:08, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Craig Furgason
Hey, according to theymightbegiants.com, They're going to play The Mesopotamians on Friday, awesome :D --Jade 02:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I could be wrong, but doesn't this dude come on at the same time as Conan O'Brien? That's a bit of a conflict of interest... musical guests usually come on at the end though, so I suppose I could watch Conan's monologue then switch over to Craig. --Oddjob 17:29, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
-Poor Flansy looked a little left out. Cool, none the less.
- Yeah, he did. No instrument or anything, which is kind of odd. Or is that the norm for that particular song? — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 06:12, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Cool awesome fun trivia
Tell me the link between the Uruk-Hai and The Mesopotamians! (Post your guesses here, I'll try to check back in a couple days) If I can think of a suitable prize (hint: it's not going to cost me money, I don't have any :)), I'll reward the winner! Stalefries 02:33, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- Um, Uruk was a city in Mesopotamia. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 06:41, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Is that really it? I've been thinking about it, and I haven't been able to come up with anything. Being the rabid LoTR fan that I am, I'm starting to speculate that it's something fairly obvious that I'm somehow overlooking. -Gannabel

Mesopotamians a Battle of the Bands Song?
Wouldn't you consider the Mesopotamians to be part of the Battle of the Bands project? I mean it's not officially listed there, but I think it fits the criteria as well as any Else (pun intended). I mean it's TMBG playing the role of a fictional band. What more do you need?
- Well, even though it fits the criteria, I'm pretty sure 'battle of the bands' is best left for the ones who were actually part of the actual project, such as tracks from Demchuck and what-not.
Taxidermy is now a Song Theme?
I was noticing that They find taxidermy funny:
- With the Dark: My mind naturally turns to taxidermy.
- No Answer: The second verse contains a tiger preserved by taxidermy.
- Whence That Wince: There is also an animated short by Mr. Linnell to accompany the Walt Kelly poem, and the short stars the preserved head of a bear, a shark and some other beasties. Oddly, the little song itselfhas nothing to do with taxidermy, aside from the video.
Enough instances to add it to the Song Themes page?
~Christina Miller, October, 2007
There are also dinosaur taxidermy heads in The Guitar music video.
- Omagosh, I completely missed that one! --Christina 19:36, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
T-Shirts
They Might Be Giants have had a lot of different t-shirts for sale over the years, and some quite interesting and unique designs. What do you guys think about adding a page that catalogs them all and includes information on them, like when they came out and who designed them? People could contribute what they know about the shirts they personally own, for instance, and pictures. Just a thought. --Kassi 00:21, 19 October 2007 (UTC) Sounds good...go for it!--Duke33 01:30, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Sims?
I love the sims, so I know that the article on the main page is wrong, They are either recording Take Out The Trash in simlish for the next expansion pack for The Sims 2, or the Sims 3, not the Sims. It's more likely for the next expansion for The Sims 2 though. Neavers 11:39, 26 October 2007 (GMT+1)
20Q People
I was playing with one of these things, and I did Linnell, and at first it said "Weird Al" but the second time it said "John Linnell" a few minutes ago, I did Flansy, and at first it said Rob Zombie, but then it did Flansy. So it could be good to mention that both are featured in the 20Q People game. --Dunklekuh81
I dunno, isn't the whole point of those things to have *everybody*?--Riblet15 13:16, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Dirty Sexy Money promo
I've found the promo for each episode aired on YouTube and none has Take Out The Trash in it. Couldn't find one for the show in general that had it in it either. Anybody seen it, or did a scrapped/future usage just show up on Flan's BMI statement? Oddly enough though, the show's promos seem to have bookended my music library as Sting's Brand New Day was the first album I bought on my own (not counting birthday/Xmas gifts) and The Else is my most recent purchase. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 03:28, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I recently stumbled upon this wiki (via Google) while searching for MediaWiki skins, and I was instantly impressed by the Azure skin you're using. I'm wondering if it's possible to use this skin for a wiki that I administer; where to get it and how exactly to install it. Thanks, Hangfromthefloor 18:41, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

In preperation of Tuesdays TMBG concert, a friend of mine did a poor job describing the band to his girlfriend. This prompted a few of us to come up a good description of the band's unique sound. this is what we came up with, hope you like it. (feel free to correct spelling)

Length of Shows 2007 tour

I am going to show in Pittsburgh next week, and have babysitter only until 11PM! (show starts at 8 with opening act, oy)
Can the sarcastic comments, just the facts please.
Appreciate it.
- According to the shows I've downloaded, the shows last from an hour and a half to an hour and forty minutes (TMBG songs tend to be short, so they get a lot of tunes in). Assuming the band goes on at nine, you may have to leave early, depending on how far you live from the venue. --Oddjob 15:44, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

That Grand Rapids interview
I really enjoyed this interview. It seemed pretty run-of-the-mill in terms of questions, but Flansburgh really seemed to be in a reflective state over what the band is and has been to him, the band, and the outside world. The only negative is that all the mentioning of Dial-A-Song was said in the past tense :(. ~ magbatz 14:28, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Direct From Brooklyn Commentary
Hi, I love this site, and I was just wondering if there were any transcripts for the commentary on the Direct From Brooklyn dvd. I was watching it and I think it would be helpful to have what They are saying written out for everyone to read. Thanks. --70.17.191.213 00:02, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- I thought about that too, but it seems kinda pointless, because you're supposed to listen to the commentary while watching the video; if you just read it on a website, you'll have no idea what part of the song/video they're talking about because there's no video to accompany the written transcript. But on the other hand, it'd still be interesting to read, so i still think this is a good idea. --McBob 01:18, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

- I'm no admin, but I don't think there'd be any problem with transcribing the commentary. I'd have to go against the pointlessness argument by saying that it would be nice to have a block of written text of what they were saying as you were watching the DVD, plus it's always a good source to refer to. Then, the only thing that might be bad about making that page would be that, by making the commentary text freely available via the wiki, we might be robbing the Giants of some extra (well deserved) revenue. Though I would counter that by saying 1) we already have enough "official" text on this site anyway, and 2) it really doesn't do you any good without Direct From Brooklyn in the first place. - If it is transcribed here in its entirety, it can just as easily be used as a replacement for the purchase as it can be used as a supplement for people who own it.
