Fan Recaps and Comments:

During this show's "Spy" improv jam, nearly every band member pulled out a trombone and played it. On the Don't Let's Start fan podcast, drummer Brian Doherty recalled:

Flans had the tour manager go out and get [the trombones], I don't know how we got there. It was hilarious. I mean, I thought it was hilarious. At one point we were all supposed to stop and pick up our hidden trombones, because the audience wasn't privy. We did it for like two or three shows, and then we realized that we can't play trombone enough to make this work.

John Linnell directs Flans and Doherty on trombone during Spy. Eric Schermerhorn plays guitar.
Bassist Graham Maby plays trombone with the brass section during Spy.

Rudderless Guitar Chord:

I assume that someone on this wiki knows more about this than I do, but what I remember best about this show was how brutal the fans were to the opening act. There had been some chat room communication with fans from the previous night’s show around particular things to heckle the poor performer with. Something involving a dolphin, I think? This being somewhat early internet days, he seemed really confused about how this was happening two nights in a row. He ended up getting really angry and stomped off the stage leaving his Stratocaster propped on the amp with its strings facing in, creating an ear splitting feedback. It was a really tense way to start the night. I wish I could remember the performer’s name.
I also recall the place seemed tiny and packed, that the show was incredible, and that Flans hung out outside trying his damndest to sincerely hear and respond to everything everyone was shouting at him, while signing anything that was handed his way.
