They Might Be Giants
Mercury Lounge in New York, NY
March 7, 1996 at 7:00 PM
Fan Recaps and Comments:
This was the first show of the band's month-long weekly residency at the Mercury Lounge. It was Eric Schermerhorn's first show as a guitarist with the band, now a five piece after briefly touring as a four piece with John Flansburgh, John Linnell, Brian Doherty on drums and Graham Maby on bass.
The band debuted a lot of new material during their Mercury Lounge residency. This show included the first performances of "They Got Lost", "Older" and "Counterfeit Faker".[1] This performance of "They Got Lost" featured the original demo lyrics about the band's crew waiting for them to arrive at a gig, rather than a radio DJ.[2] The lyrics were finalized by the next week's performance.
