Rolf Conant, an illegal alien from Berlin, is one of John Flansburgh's alter egos. "Conant" was taken from his middle name, and "Rolf" was chosen because it sounded like a "nice German name". As a home recording enthusiast, Mr. Conant allegedly formed the Hello The Band project with Joshua Fried and contributed lead vocals and guitars on the band's eponymous EP.
