They Might Be Giants
The Signal in Chattanooga, TN

Fan Recaps and Comments:
- Concert tonight was absolutely fire! I was scared at first at this being a Flood show, but it ended up meaning that there was a phenomenal 2nd set, which I'd take any day. The crowd was VERY heckle-y today with a lot of calling out songs to the band. I haven't been to such a rowdy crowd in a while. What's odd is it seemed kinda low energy through most of it, but the audience was still a lot of fun. Here's a few of the fun little things that happened at this concert.
- After Synopsis For Latecomers, Flansburgh was really ready to perform Brontosaurus but it was much later on the setlist. Apparently he didn't have one on that side of the stage he was on. After incorrectly attempting to segue into Brontosaurus twice, he just went ahead and performed it after Operation.
- Flansburgh said that Dan Levine wrote the horn charts for Authenticity Trip. This was probably already common knowledge, but I had not heard before.
- I'm fairly sure Flans missed the cue to come in on a section of NYC which lead to the band acting somewhat confused. It took almost 16 bars of fill before JF came in. Not a negative comment of course, just interesting.
- My first ever They concert, and it was an experience I will never forget. Drove two hours from Knoxville to Chattanooga to see them, since I had a chance to see them and took it! As with Robot, the crowd was very rowdy. One person behind me really, REALLY, wanted to hear The Neck Rolls Aren't Working. Flans actually made a comment about all the "drunken shouting", so, of course, someone started to shout "DRUNKEN SHOUTING!" (said person was me.) They kept making note that the Signal was on Choo Choo Avenue, which, hell yeah, that's an awesome name for a road. Also, they didn't want us booing any mentions of Nashville in the first half...only for everyone to boo when they mentioned Nashville in the second half. Never Change, East Tennessee.
- So, because I didn't know what to do with my Signed Apollo 18 vinyl (My FAVOURITE ALBUM EVER, BTW), I just waved it around for a bit. Especially during Fingertips and The Guitar. Also, during the Encores, I started a trend of people doing shadow puppets on Linnell's keyboard once I realized that I was in the perfect spot when I was holding my hands and album in the air. Shout out to the NWO Wolfpack as their hand sign is the only shadow puppet I know how to do.
- Over all, as someone who hasn't voluntarily gone to very many concerts(i.e. a concert that wasn't mandated by school or was a part of another event like a robotics competition or a fireworks show), this was easily one of the best concerts I have been to.
- [FYI, the other concerts I went to were Weird Al, Grandmaster Flash, and like six concerts for my friend's band, "Milk Man and the Big Band".]
- this was my 2nd ever concert. offsite i keep calling this show tailored for me because they played quite a few favs (operation, cloisonne, darlings of lumberland) + received a signed BOOK book straight from flans' paw, and got to give the band some pony art!
- the crowd was definitely way rowdier and drunken than the convington show i went to last year. hell, before the show even started, someone in line got so drunk he fell over and had a seizure. and during the show someone spilled beer over me and a few other people's shoes, lol.
- besides that it was super fun, thank you whoever gifted me your tmbw braclet at the end, i've been wearing it every day since
