John Linnell And The Statesmen was the touring band for performances from 1999 to 2000 promoting John Linnell's solo album, State Songs. As the name suggests, the band featured John Linnell (vocals, accordion) backed by The Statesmen, a group which consisted of:
- Mark Donato, drums
- Dan Miller (now a member of TMBG's backing band), guitar
- Mark Lerner, bass
- Bob Stuhmer, Wurlitzer band organ
In addition to performing the songs live, The Statesmen also provided their musical talents on some of the studio recordings.
