Trivia/Info

  • This rough mix is the same basic track as the final album version of the song, but features a few notable differences:
    • The lead vocal is an alternate, relatively rough take, and features a short slapback delay effect.
    • The backing vocals in the chorus lack the repeating delay effect, and the spoken vocal in the bridge has a slight echo effect.
    • The accordion lacks the automated gate effect in the song's final verse and its tremolo effect in the chorus is less pronounced.
    • The bass has a slightly different, thinner tone. In the final version, the main bass synth appears to be doubled with a second, lower bass sound, which is not present in this mix.
    • The drum track is played with the same Alesis HR-16 drum machine as in the final version, but the programmed patterns are simpler and incorporate some alternate sounds. A prominent conga drum appears throughout the verses and chorus, which was replaced with a ride cymbal in the final version.
    • The track fades out 20 seconds earlier than the final version, omitting the last repeat of the chorus.
  • This is the only recording on the Roughs From 2nd LP tape to feature alternate vocals and drum sounds from the Alesis HR-16.
