- A live album, At Large, featuring recordings from the autumn 2011 second leg of the Join Us tour, is released on January 25.
- The RIAA certifies the DVDs for Here Come The 123s and Here Comes Science as gold in January. In March, Here Come The ABCs is certified as a platinum-selling DVD.
- The album Nanobots is recorded this year, beginning in March and ending on December 19 with the track "Great" being finished.
- Factory Showroom sees its first ever vinyl release in April.[1] This marks the first in a series of vinyl reissues of the band's Elektra albums.
- The They Might Be Giants Instant Fan Club enters its second year of subscriptions.
