Talk:No Answer

From This Might Be A Wiki

I wonder why a song this beautiful hasn't gone any further. - HearingAid

Boy, I really wanted this song to be on The Else, everytime I hear it, I have to hold back my tears, for some reason I find it really powerful. I am also living off the museumofidiots.com mp3 Jade

It is strangely moving for some reason. I wish so much that they'd do something with this song. I love it so much. --Valerie 17:56, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

What a spooky song, and a spooky question. Can you answer it? --Nehushtan 17:44, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

This doesn't sound as if it's sung by Mr. Linnell. I don't recognize the person, but it doesn't sound like him. Christina Miller, 13 July 2009 5:25 pm

It's definitely Linnell. - Wout

Can't find this song anywhere. Anyone know where I can listen to it?

It's from DAS. You have to ask around, people have it. I don't think it's anywhere for free listening. -- Buzzmusic100 ("Keep your voice down...")
Oh it isn't, is it? --Self Called Nowhere 07:18, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Asked 15 November 2011, Linnell said that "No Answer" would not be on anything. When asked whether the song would be given further release, he said "No." Pressed why, he emphatically stated, "We have, like, a *million* songs." To the statement "But it's such a great song" he simply replied, "Thanks for coming out, guys. Nice to meet you." (He was on his way out the door.)

Lol, wouldn't want this information to take up the space of the overabundant LEGITIMATE trivia for this song. I, for one, would definitely rather entertain implausible theories of relations to songs with almost similar names than hear about the song's current status with its creator.
First of all, I object to your labeling this as "censorship", it was removed at the discretion of an editor because it's not from an official source and it's not really a formal bit of fact. I personally feel like it's more likely that John Linnell was being grumpy that actually putting any real thought into his answers—John Linnell seems like a grumpy man. If you don't like the trivia that's on there now, then why don't you change it yourself rather than trying to make a crude joke about it on the talk page? -Apollo (colloquia!) 21:58, 16 November 2011 (EST)

Seriously?[edit]

Can we start a petition to get this song completed? Or have somebody rough up Linnell? One of the smaller female fans would be a fair fight.

For some reason, Linnell seems not to be very fond of his own ballads, while Flansy loves crooning soft and melancholy tunes. I guess Linnell is uncomfortable with the dark subject matter... But still, they really need to record this song properly. --Freakiosis 03:12, 13 March 2013 (EDT)

I wouldn't be surprised if there was something really personal about this specific song; a LOT of Linnell's songs have some pretty dark subject matter but still see regular rotation, and even I've Got A Match was at least released on an album (even if it seems to have been practically disowned by the band for whatever reason). There's something more to No Answer, I'm guessing. I could speculate on the nature of the song and the whole situation in general, but I kinda think that would be kind of inappropriate, so I won't.
One other thing that does strike me as odd is that there seem to be two (possibly more?) DAS versions of this song--the version on Museum Of Idiots and the version on Quinn's Tumblr. I initially thought maybe one of them was simply better quality or some such, but there seem to be a few slight (but distinct!) instrumental and pacing differences between the two recordings. It seems odd that they'd do two versions of a song that they seem to have since totally forgotten about, or perhaps even disavowed. (I'm personally quite skeptical of the "Linnell said No Answer will never be released" thing, but if it IS true, it just makes the whole situation even stranger.)
I suppose the simplest answer (no pun intended) would be that they were simply unhappy with the song and scrapped it, but it seems rather odd that such a gorgeous song would be left unreleased for no real reason...but that's just me, I suppose! :P
Apologies if this came across as rambling; I think I had a point when I started typing this, but I may or may not have forgotten what that point actually was.) Warhammer Of Zillyhoo (talk) 02:15, 8 September 2013 (EDT)
