Fan Recaps and Comments:

The second of two live tapings for the public radio show This American Life (the first was at 2 pm). The tapings were used for the episode "What You Lookin' At?" broadcast on Dec. 18, 1998.

The website for This American Life announced, "We've added a second New York show. Pick up tix for our just-added 6 p.m. NYC taping on Sunday, December 13, and see Sarah Vowell, Dan Savage, David Rakoff and Ira Glass read/perform stories for our 'What Are You Looking At?' show at Town Hall."

Host Ira Glass introduced the musicians as "They Might Be Giants and the This American Life Orchestra," crediting John Linnell, John Flansburgh, Dan Miller, Dan Hickey, Dan Levine, Danny Weinkauf, and Jim O'Connor.

Songs were performed as interstitials between the spoken-word segments. The band also contributed incidental music throughout, such as a snippet of the Roy Acuff song "Wreck on the Highway" during Sarah Vowell's segment.
