LEMUR, or the League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots, were a robotics art group founded in 2000 by Eric Singer. The group was dedicated to creating robotic musical instruments and collaborated with several artists throughout the decade following its creation.[1]

In 2007, LEMUR performed their first concert series at 3-Legged Dog Art & Technology Center, titled "Robosonic Eclectic: Live Music by Robots and Humans", for which they commissioned several pieces of music. The concerts were performed as part of the New York Electronic Art Festival (NYEAF), which was "a month-long celebration of cutting-edge electronic music."[2]

Several artists participated in the concerts including They Might Be Giants. In their sets, They Might Be Giants performed alongside the various robots created by LEMUR, including GuitarBot and the percussion-based modBots. These performances included the song Our Cannibal Friends, which has remained "robot-exclusive".[3]

Other artists involved in the concerts included JG Thirlwell, Morton Subotnick, and George Lewis. Joshua Fried has also composed music for LEMUR.
