Trivia/Info

  • Flansburgh says, "The melody came from a ska tape I bought without any publishing credit. I recorded a MIDI version of it for the Mono Puff Hello CD Of The Month Club and added the lyrics. The middle break here is all electronic music and an electric guitar plugged directly into the tape recorder. That part was smashed together at around four in the morning at Hello Studio."
  • The original instrumental version is by The Skatalites. You can listen to the song and, if it ever gets restocked, purchase the single at Jet Set Records.
  • Dr. Kildare is a fictional medical doctor, whose franchise ran on and off from the late 1930s to the 60s and spawned a number of films, in addition to a radio program and a television series. The TV show's theme song's melodies are somewhat distantly echoed in the Skatalites version (which Mono Puff's version more closely resembles), and you can listen to it here.
