This concert was the very first TMBG show I ever got to watch. They did do one in Vancouver somewhere in Hastings I think back in 2018, but I couldn't go then due to a multitude of issues that aren't worth mentioning, but I will say it bummed me out. Then I heard of their Flood Tour announced in 2019, bought the tickets, and then the pandemic came along in 2020, causing the show to be delayed three times. A very long wait, but at least we celebrated Flood's 33rd anniversary. Here's to hoping for a John Henry 30 year anniversary.
This was such an amazing show, and according to both Johns, we were the last city of the Flood tour, and they mentioned of a 10 day break until they have to perform again, which I think is for their upcoming Kimmel show. At one point during the first half, the two mentioned of how Canadians are-- and my memory here is a bit jaded, I think it's the wrong word I'm using-- "unconditionally" nice. A few audience members, myself included, said out loud "I'm sorry!" which also got acknowledged by Flansburgh and did not surprise him one bit lol
What caught me off guard from the show was hearing "Memo to Human Resources," a personal Top 10 Flansburgh, and "Why Does The Sun Shine?" in the second act. I couldn't quite clearly hear the name of who Linnell was impersonating during the spoken sections of the song, but it was hilarious, the rest of the band I could see were trying their best to keep the composure at different intervals. A friend of mine was really excited to hear "Brontosaurus" and the other BOOK songs performed tonight. The solos in "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" were downright amazing. After "Doctor Worm" was performed, I recall seeing those standing closest to the stage getting what I assume was the setlist.
I'm really happy to have finally watched my first TMBG concert and I hope they return again to Vancouver in the future.

I too was caught off guard by “Memo to Human Resources”—I actually teared up a little.
This was my 2nd TMBG show and my sister’s first; we managed to get right up close to the stage, which was fabulous. As usual the band looked like they were having the best time, and oh those horns!
At the end of “Particle Man” Linnell’s Main Squeeze lost a key, which the crew managed to reattach for the second set. He explained that at a previous stop on the tour everything had been submerged in water, resulting in the failure of what Flans described as the high-quality water-soluble glue that been used to hold the instrument together.
For “Why Does the Sun Shine” Linell did an impression of singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka, during which he explained how he had successfully sued the sun for copyright infringement.
Can’t wait to see them again; they seem stoked to come back to Canada at some point.
