Speculation

should we make like an album specluration page, like with the else? --Veggieman 00:13, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Specluration? A speculation page would be much more appropiate, but hells yes >:D --ΰΌΊπ„žπ„†β“†β“€β“”β“›βŽˆβ’Ήβ“žβ“œβ“œβ“β“–β“”π„‡ΰΌ» 18:37, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
I did enjoy the album "specluration" page. ;) I think we should follow through with it, for I did enjoy the debate and wonder of what the album may have in store.--Lemita 20:02, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
i think this whole idea is not unreasonable, but it would probably be good to wait until we have at least some more info about it. also yes, the else speculation page was good times. --ant 20:55, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Question: how much information do we need for it to qualify as some? Like, maybe a full track or...what? -Sparkling_Omelets 20:59, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
We have enough information to start an article. Whoever wants to create it needs to locate most of the relevant quotations from recent interviews first (look through the last year or two in Current Events archives). Hello people, no, it's specluration.--Veggieman 00:25, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

The thirteen second taste they gave us reminded me very much of Minimum Wage. -Apollo. 04:17, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

THIRTEEN SECONDS? SERIOUSLY??? Yeh, I'm pretty convinced this is a diabolical trick to see how tiny a scrap they can give us and still throw us into a frenzy and IT'S WORKING, hahaha. I AM EXCITED TOO, VERY VERY EXCITED (how ADORABLE John is for those two seconds? THAT'S EXCITING) but it's kind of...funny. The Johns are probably laughing at us now. --Self Called Nowhere 04:31, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Is it just me, or did they reuse a bit of Tango Distorto in this? The beginning sounds like the accordion bridge near the end of Tango Distorto. Akagi 17:19, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Three Might Be Duende

I am pretty sure that Flans said at Lupo's last night that the actual name of this song is Three Might Be Duende (which is the refrain in the chorus). The internet on my phone is too clunky for me to easily fix this myself. Help? BlueCanary

So the song titles are getting longer over time, not vice versa? That's unexpected. --Self Called Nowhere 19:14, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Video!

The video, which includes a Flans verse and a Linnell verse is here, and it starts at around 0:35. Magna cum laude to the person who filmed it, whose name is I think "Kathy" (according to lekker). -Apollo (Phoebus!) 22:33, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Yup. That would be KathyK at the controls. She rocks :-) --BlueCanary 22:43, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
The verse tune sounds a LOT like We Live In A Dump... --ΰΌΊπ„žπ„†β“†β“€β“”β“›βŽˆβ’Ήβ“žβ“œβ“œβ“β“–β“”π„‡ΰΌ» 23:32, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Play on "They Might Be Giants"

Not only is Three Might Be Duende very similar to They Might Be Giants,a giant is a very large humanoid while a duende is a very small humanoid from my understanding. Not sure if this is worth mentioning as it is pretty obvious once you know what a duende is - Ash

Maybe if "They Might Be Giants" is John and John, "Three Might Be Duende" could refer to Dan, Dan, and Marty. -- Buzzmusic100 ("Keep your voice down...")

They Might Be Bugsy Malone?

When the Giants complain about being called nerdy and quirky they really have only themselves to blame with free associated guff like this. Flans signs off on Join Us, with a poor song that seems to have borrowed far to much of the melody from Down and Out from the Bugsy Malone soundtrack. If late period Flans has a problem it is that he struggles to find topics to write about these days. The kids albums (with their preordained subject matter) seems to help him write songs that easily punch at the top of his creative weight. Sadly, for all of us, his patchy songs on Join Us are inferior to Linnells (admittedly variable) efforts. The best Giants albums need them both punching a the same level.(Mr Tuck)

Oh my God I was just about to post this (albeit a lot less negatively). The first thing I thought when I first heard the song was "Wow, that sounds a lot like that one song from Bugsy Malone." Bottom line, though, is that it is a march, and there seems like there's only like five basic melodies for a march. --SMB 04:16, 29 July 2011 (EDT)

The guest vocals

Where exactly are the guest vocals the liners say are in this track? It sounds like Flansburgh is singing the entire thing, but with different voices/accents in the second and third verses. Unless they're doing real spot-on Flansburgh impressions, the only thing I can think of is maybe they're the ones doing the distorted "bo bo bo" thing in the first verse... Akagi 15:44, 21 September 2011 (EDT)

Nope, the second and third verses are DEFINITELY (definitely definitely) Driver and Cerveris. Flans can't do that with his voice. And I'm pretty sure the "bo bo bo"s are just Flans. The liner notes just say "vocal on track 17" for each of them, but it's quite clear that that's who's doing what. -Apollo (colloquia!) 16:03, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
That's bizarre... they both sound just like him, IMO. Well, thanks for clearing it up! Akagi 16:54, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
