So did any of you dudes get out to see this one? I really meant to, but as it turns out, my gmail account won't get their newsletter, probably because of the period before the @ symbol. I did download it (legitimately, hey), though, and I've been to the venue before. I was pretty sad about missing it. --Ed

I went. It definately rocked. Fountains Of Wayne opened. They were alright... their sound setup wasn't the greatest. The top 3 strings on one of the guitars seemed to be much louder than anything else on stage. They made a few comments about TMBG, all of which received huge cheers from the crowd, obivously comprised of TMBG fans like myself.

They Might Be Giants had a GREAT sound set up though. My friend and I were shouting for Thunderbird and Stomp Box, but no luck. We were treated to The End Of The Tour and The Famous Polka, both which I have never heard them play live. As usual, Istanbul (Not Constantinople) and John Lee Supertaster contained some excellent Millerage. My favorite suprise was the newest Robot Parade. I was really suprised at Linnell's new accordion. That was incredible. It's like one and a half octaves! But, oddly enough, it sounds even better than the old one. Flansburgh was as energetic as always, and I thought Marty did a fine job! Everyone had several solos, except for poor Weinkauf. He didn't have a single one! I felt kinda sorry for him. Mr. Miller, however, played some of the best solos I have ever seen. I'm really psyched for when they come back to the 9:30 club this fall. They get better every time I see 'em. - Doctor Masonstein

The show was so good that the promoters cancelled the remaining shows on the 2004 Live on Penn schedule.
