Is this both Johns or two layers of JL's voice?
- I think it's two John Linnells, personally --ΰΌΊππββ€ββββΉββββββπΰΌ» 12:29, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Never again?[edit]
According to the Show entry for 5/5/2000, the puppets were given away the next day. That also happens to be the last entry in the "performances" list, which makes me suspect that they won't play it any more. Sad! --Nehushtan (talk) 19:01, 25 August 2019 (EDT)
- Well, I don't know about "never"--for example, they brought back The World's Address a few years ago for the first time in decades. Who's to say there won't be a new iteration of the puppets, a la The Avatars Of They, who could perform material like that again... --MisterMe (talk) 01:01, 26 August 2019 (EDT)
- I mean to be fair that "World's Address" performance was for a Lincoln-themed show, not just out of nowhere, but I do agree that they change things up setlist-wise and resurrect old songs often enough that there's always cause for at least a little hope. I'd pretty much given up on any chance of ever seeing my favorite song (the username one if that weren't obvious) since they hadn't played it in a couple of decades and rarely did even when they were touring to promote John Henry, but then to my amazement there it was as a regular part of the set of last year's tour! So you never know. I'm personally pretty ok with letting the dummy-head version of this song rest, though--after hearing tell of it for years and thinking it just sounded weird and silly, I actually saw a video for the first time not too long ago and it turned out to be way, way more terrifying than I'd ever imagined. --Self Called Nowhere (talk) 03:52, 26 August 2019 (EDT)
- As long as they play it, I won't need puppets. Anyways I can't believe I haven't seen a recap from you for any of those shows with your song!! --Nehushtan (talk) 17:28, 26 August 2019 (EDT)
- Oh yeh don't get me wrong, I do love the song and would definitely be interested in seeing it performed in some other, less-terrifying fashion. As for my recaps, yeh, I've been slacking on them terribly for various reasons, and should take this as a reminder to try to do something about that very soon. --Self Called Nowhere (talk) 19:36, 26 August 2019 (EDT)
