TMBG's Other Thing, formed in 2003 as the outfit for They Might Be Giants shows at Joe's Pub, toured and recorded with the band on several occasions. The four-piece ensemble consisted of Marty Beller (drums and desk bell), Dan Levine (trombone), Mark Pender (trumpet), and Marcus Rojas (tuba). In 2011, TMBG released a six-song digital EP to members of the Instant Fan Club, featuring studio recordings made with the Other Thing. Later in the year, a truncated version of this EP was released on vinyl and sold at live shows and on tmbg.com, in addition to being distributed to IFC members.
