Liesje Kraai
Liesje Kraai (pronounced lee-sha krah-ee) is a Brooklyn based graphic artist, animator, and puppeteer who has worked on several music videos for They Might Be Giants. She graduated from the University of the Arts in 2004[1] before becoming a freelance animator with several studios including work with Asterisk as a story board artist.[2] Since collaborating with the band she has went on to work as the creative director for Monks advertising services.
Her first collaboration with TMBG came in 2009 working alongside David Cowles on the interstitials and several music videos for Here Comes Science. She co-directed the videos for Why Does The Sun Really Shine? and the title track. The following year, she worked yet again with Cowles on the music video for We Live In A Dump. The process took almost a year's worth of work, with Kraai handmaking each puppet for the video in her home studio. The video was filmed in Richard O'Connor of Asterisk's studio with help from Cowles, Jonathan Ackerman, and O'Connor himself.[3]
