I wonder if it would be possible to make the main page (or: the header) look more TMBG-related.
The way it is now it´s nice looking, but very neutral and does not have a distinct character. Perhaps a discreet detail taken from TMBG-artwork could be suitable, that is, if it does not affect any copyrights. Right now I don´t have a certain suggestion, but perhaps this is something to consider? If you´re open to that I would like to work on something for the header. by:HypnotistOfLadies
Anybody see this? I'm not a Dashboard fan but thought some people might be...

I made this iMix for iTunes of 45 of TMBG's best songs. Tell me if you like it, or what needs changes. Enjoy!

That was my fault. Hey, is the pot smoking and whatnot really terrible or just occasional? How bad is Atlanta and Savannah? --Dunklekuh81
I was just at theymightbegiants.com, and I was reading the article They have recently linked to. Now, should this article go in the News section? Or do we not bother, since They have already linked to it else where? It's http://www.vcreporter.com/article.php?id=5225&IssueNum=143 if anyone wants to check it out, it's really good!
Hey, according to theymightbegiants.com, They're going to play The Mesopotamians on Friday, awesome :D --Jade 02:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
-Poor Flansy looked a little left out. Cool, none the less.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=DhkF9wy14Z4 Mosesofthecows, check this out, at the very end he does wipe his desk with the else
-Wow, The Alphabets Of Nations was excellent! Hurray!
That banner looks great! Awesome job whoever did that!
Tell me the link between the Uruk-Hai and The Mesopotamians! (Post your guesses here, I'll try to check back in a couple days) If I can think of a suitable prize (hint: it's not going to cost me money, I don't have any :)), I'll reward the winner! Stalefries 02:33, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Wouldn't you consider the Mesopotamians to be part of the Battle of the Bands project? I mean it's not officially listed there, but I think it fits the criteria as well as any Else (pun intended). I mean it's TMBG playing the role of a fictional band. What more do you need?
I was noticing that They find taxidermy funny:
Enough instances to add it to the Song Themes page?
~Christina Miller, October, 2007
There are also dinosaur taxidermy heads in The Guitar music video.
They Might Be Giants have had a lot of different t-shirts for sale over the years, and some quite interesting and unique designs. What do you guys think about adding a page that catalogs them all and includes information on them, like when they came out and who designed them? People could contribute what they know about the shirts they personally own, for instance, and pictures. Just a thought. --Kassi 00:21, 19 October 2007 (UTC) Sounds good...go for it!--Duke33 01:30, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
I love the sims, so I know that the article on the main page is wrong, They are either recording Take Out The Trash in simlish for the next expansion pack for The Sims 2, or the Sims 3, not the Sims. It's more likely for the next expansion for The Sims 2 though. Neavers 11:39, 26 October 2007 (GMT+1)
I was playing with one of these things, and I did Linnell, and at first it said "Weird Al" but the second time it said "John Linnell" a few minutes ago, I did Flansy, and at first it said Rob Zombie, but then it did Flansy. So it could be good to mention that both are featured in the 20Q People game. --Dunklekuh81
I dunno, isn't the whole point of those things to have *everybody*?--Riblet15 13:16, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but can a thing so small have enough memory to include Flansburgh and Linnell in a plethora of famous names? I'm thinking it suggests that they are incredibly famous, because Patrick Warburton (played Puddy on Seinfeld and billions of cartoon voices, currently on Rules of Engagement) doesn't seem to be on there. Dunklekuh81
I've found the promo for each episode aired on YouTube and none has Take Out The Trash in it. Couldn't find one for the show in general that had it in it either. Anybody seen it, or did a scrapped/future usage just show up on Flan's BMI statement? Oddly enough though, the show's promos seem to have bookended my music library as Sting's Brand New Day was the first album I bought on my own (not counting birthday/Xmas gifts) and The Else is my most recent purchase. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 03:28, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Anyone out there have a pumpkin stencil of William Allen White, for Halloween? If not, are there any artistic types out there that want to take a shot? --Duke33 02:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
I recently stumbled upon this wiki (via Google) while searching for MediaWiki skins, and I was instantly impressed by the Azure skin you're using. I'm wondering if it's possible to use this skin for a wiki that I administer; where to get it and how exactly to install it. Thanks, Hangfromthefloor 18:41, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
I watched the Pushing Daisies episode that was supposed to contain TMBG refs or whatever...and there was no such thing. Did I watch the wrong episode, or was whoever posted that just misinformed? Spiraling Shape 04:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
In preperation of Tuesdays TMBG concert, a friend of mine did a poor job describing the band to his girlfriend. This prompted a few of us to come up a good description of the band's unique sound. this is what we came up with, hope you like it. (feel free to correct spelling)
"Misc. fun, mellow, general unclassifiable rock. Excited, sad, british-esque easy-listening. Educational, east-coast, indie music. And alternative children rock." Or "Other"
any idea how long shows are lasting on this tour (Autumn 2007?)
I am going to show in Pittsburgh next week, and have babysitter only until 11PM! (show starts at 8 with opening act, oy)
Can the sarcastic comments, just the facts please.
Appreciate it.
---> Hey, thanks buckaroo!
I really enjoyed this interview. It seemed pretty run-of-the-mill in terms of questions, but Flansburgh really seemed to be in a reflective state over what the band is and has been to him, the band, and the outside world. The only negative is that all the mentioning of Dial-A-Song was said in the past tense :(. ~ magbatz 14:28, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I love this site, and I was just wondering if there were any transcripts for the commentary on the Direct From Brooklyn dvd. I was watching it and I think it would be helpful to have what They are saying written out for everyone to read. Thanks. --70.17.191.213 00:02, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
While watching Saturday Morning Cartoons with my younger brother today, I saw a reference to They Might Be Giants in a show called "Jacob Two-Two". The particular episode was "Dollars for Scholars", and the reference involved some lyrics from Istanbul Not Constantinople. The clip can be seen here. Technically, they could be referencing The Four Lads, but I prefer to think it's TMBG. --Mosesofthecows 20:20, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi, My seven year old loves TMBG and I noticed they will be holding a children's show in New Hampshire at the end of March. I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not they will be playing only songs from their children's albums. My son loves their general music and I don't want to drive him up to N.H. without knowing what type of music to expect. His favorite songs are "Don't Let's Start" and "Particle Man." He plays their music every day!!!! Thanks for any information.
Love it guys, especially the Santa White at the bottom.-Cody-schmidt 01:37, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I remember reading of some sort of Don't Let's Start remix, and now I can't find it anywhere, despite my Google-fu! Halp! stalefries 23:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
No one has mentioned this on here that I've seen, but Flans made a live-action cameo on the Adult Swim show Xavier: Renegade Angel last week! The full episode ("World of Hurt, B.C.") is no longer online but you can see clips of it by going to Adult Swim Video, then going to the "Comedy" folder and clicking on "Xavier: Renegade Angel". The clips labelled "Sand Madness", "Numb Nutted Neanderballs" and "Every Slice of Bacon" feature the Flans. Of note, the show was co-created by noted supertaster John Lee who also co-created the MTV2 series Wonder Showzen. (It's also really really funny, but doesn't work as well in clip form, IMO).
Anyway I mention this here because I kinda thought it should be on the front page but it's a little late now and I don't know if it should still be included and if it should be back-dated or what. It's also worth mentioning in Television Appearances but I don't know how to link directly to those clips. Any help would be appreciated--Anextrafacelol 20:20, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey guys,
UltraStar is a OpenSource singing/rhythm game similar to SingStar for the playstation. It is a karaoke game that lets you create a textfile encoded with timecodes, notes and lyrics that are used in conjunction with the original music files from the users collection. you can even have it played over the music video if it is available.
It would be an awesome thing to have the ultrastar txt file available as one of the download links for the songs. I don't know how to make the files - but the Michael Jackson and Beatles fans have started doing it for those groups and surely the TMBG nerds can do better!
Check it out and see what you think UltraStar Delux Website - i would suggest starting with the songs as they are ranked in the popularity page - so Birdhouse first!
There's a little post about the new podcast and album on USA Today's Pop Candy blog. --Scottus0 21:40, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I just heard the song No! on American Idol. It was freaking cool. Is it news worthy? --Goodtimes2
I now find it funny that, while This Might Be a Wiki finds the American Idol news to be too lowly and undeserving and unimportant to leave on the Current Events page, it made headline news in the official TMBG mailing/email list. ~ magbatz 06:52, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
So, did anybody catch the show? Does anyone remember what they played before Alice Cooper? They had some good music.
What quarter was the Dunkin' Donuts commercial shown? I missed it, but it's entirely possible that I was out of the room or something. Also, can we verify that it was on the national feed, and not local? --Duke33 16:16, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

My TMBG Road Crew hoodie just arrived, and it's the best hoodie in the world. ever. However, for some reason, under the logo, the slogan reads "Installing and Serving Melody Since 1982", rather than the usual "Installing and Servicing Melody Since 1982".
Just thought it was weird. And dumb. -pat 06:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry - I've been too busy with other stuff to come up with a good prank this year. Oh well. --Duke33 12:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
I ... You ... THAT WASN'T FUNNY! Oh, that was the worst April Fool's Day prank I've EVER suffered EVER. I hope you're happy, youze guyz ....
Okay, okay, it was a good one. But jeez, why not add iodine to the cut now, and tell us the Johns have split the music industry or something? Donata Traverso 17:34, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

You selfish capitalists. This ruined my whole day, and just so you could have a second of fun. - Anonymous
Crap, I quickly skimmed it at school, and I almost had a stroke when I read the thing slowly. Then I clicked on the link, and I didn't realize what happened at first, so I scrolled down some. Then I screamed in anger. Must have been the best April Fools prank ever played, especially because of the timing (what with the "podcast took over" crap in the interview a couple of weeks ago). Mr. 77
I know it was meant for a fun prank, so I'm not mad at anyone. But even though I came to this site yesterday prepared for a joke, I had been hoping and wishing for dial-a-song to come back so badly that I really wanted to believe it, and I did. Sorry, but it really felt like a let-down rather than something I would laugh about. Ganna
...*grudgingly* Okay, it was kinda funny. :) Nice job people who made it up. And I didn't really cry. I used that as an expression. --Lemita 22:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Would someone mind telling me what this prank was?
Here we go, everyone, the final of KidVid Tournament 2008. This contest pits "Cheese" from Mr. Richard's Polka Dot Puzzle (video directed by Banks Helfrich) against "The Seven Days of the Week (Never Go To Work)," from They Might Be Giants' Here Come the 123s CD/DVD (video directed by David Cowles and Sean McBride). As always, vote once per family only, please, in the comments below. Votes are due by 9 PM West Coast (midnight East Coast) tonight (Tuesday). And, remember, vote nicely.
Go here to vote for TMBG!
I purchased tickets for the TMBG show held on March 30th at Portsmouth, NH. I drove up from CT with my husband and son who is eight and a HUGE fan of the old and new TMBG songs. He doesn't listen to their children's albums, he listens to the old albums, and The Else is his favorite album. When I purchased the tickets the venue's web site noted that there were two shows for that day; a children's show in the afternoon and another show in the evening (not children's songs). I purchased tickets for the evening show because we are not familiar withe kids songs. I checked the venue's site a number of times before the event (I bought the tickets in January).
We drove three hours, got a hotel room, and showed up for the concert only to find out that TMBG were not allowing children under 14 to attend. Needless to say, we were very upset. This information had never been posted on the venue's web site. I have been to three TMBG shows and never found anything inappropriate about them (except the venues which were often bars). We specifically chose this venue because it was family friendly. Well, we ended up turning around and driving back three hours home. My son and I still enjoy the group but my husband won't listen to them anymore. Sad day, especially for my son, since the show was his birthday gift from us.
Hello!
Just wondering what if you like TMBGs old stuff better then the new stuff or there new stuff better then there old stuff (by old & new I mean music & videos and music-videos!!!)
(WISH WIKI HAD A POLL FUNCTION!)
Anyways, in general I like there old stuff better (wearing a raincoat, it's not my birthday, Ana Ng etc.) though I do like there new stuff as well, though not as much... (exceptions: We Live In A Dump, Greasy Kid Stuff)
Maybe it's better if I said, as a general statement, I LOVE TMBG OLD STUFF (pre-2006 or 2005) and I like TMBGs new stuff (post-2006)
How about yourself?
Please reply,

That's a pretty in depth preview if I do say so myself, How good of a podcast would it be if there was even more music to be added for the official release! --Tedadore2

I guess they played at the TED conference last year, and they put up the recording of their session just recently (today or yesterday?).
"In a very, very early-morning set, They Might Be Giants rock the final day of TED2007. Songs include "Older," "Bee of the Bird of the Moth," "Asbury Park," "Fingertips," the premiere of "Phone Calls from the Dead," and "Alphabet of Nations.""

Remember when you post an interpretation that it's supposed to be about how YOU interpret it. There's too many interps that try to figure out what the Johns meant by it. --Dunklekuh81
Well, yeah. That's okay sometimes, but it seems like 99% of all interps are strictly based on the John's life experiences or whatever. Drawing some originality, ya know, paint your own picture. --Dunklekuh81
