Tricerachops Horns
The Tricerachops Horns is a three-piece horn section that has accompanied They Might Be Giants during many live shows since October 2007.
Description
The Tricerachops Horns moniker was first used in 2007, and the three-piece has been accompanying TMBG from time to time ever since, originally for mini-tours and New York-based stands, and eventually full-time.
The name "Tricerachops" is a portmanteau of "triceratops," which literally means "three-horned face", and "chops", a musical slang term for technical skill.
Beginning in January 2018, They Might Be Giants became a live six-piece band with Curt Ramm accompanying every show on trumpet, until June 2022 when he resumed touring duties with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, at which point Mark Pender stepped in. In November 2024, Pender was unable to join during the UK leg of the tour as he also joined touring duties with the E Street Band (subbing for Ramm in that band), and his place in TMBG was filled by Jordan Katz.
Since 2022, TMBG has been an eight-piece, with the Tricerachops Horns becoming regular members of TMBG's touring band.
