- The Here Come The 123s CD/DVD set is released on February 5. The album earns the band their second Grammy, this time for "Best Musical Album for Children".
- Also on February 5, the band releases Podcast 32A, which includes several never-before-released tracks from a 1983 demo.
- TMBG contributes "The Sims 2 Free Time Theme" and a re-recording of "Take Out The Trash" to the computer game The Sims 2: FreeTime.
- In an interview with the campus newspaper from the University of Windsor in Windsor Ontario, John Linnell confirms the death of Dial-A-Song.
- Sometime in mid-2008, production for Here Comes Science begins.
- The They Might Be Giants Friday Night Family Podcast goes on a hiatus in June, initially intended to last until fall, but ultimately ends up taking over a year.
- TMBG contributes a track, "Ballad Of Davy Crockett (In Outer Space)", to the Disney compilation Disney Music Block Party.
- PBS Kids airs a fitness-friendly campaign featuring a new TMBG song and music video called "Kids Go!".
- The 200th Strong Bad Email is released on homestarrunnner.com, with a song ("200 sbemails") contributed by TMBG.
