Hello all! My name is Marlowe, though the nicknames Mar and Lowe are both welcome. Browsed TMBW for a few months and finally created an account when song ratings were fixed.
I also edit Wikipedia sporadically under a different username (that I will not be sharing here, I like my anonymity there).
I was first introduced to TMBG as a wee child thanks to my dad, raised on cuts from No! and Here Come The ABCs, maybe the occasional 123s track, and a little later Here Comes Science. Of course, "Istanbul" was thrown in the mix too at some point, especially when I was introduced to Just Dance 4. These all lingered in the back of my mind for quite a while until summer 2023, when on a whim I decided to try listening to Flood in full, and I learned the full discography pretty soon after.
Other favorite artists of mine include Queen, The Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra, The Long Winters, Sparks, and of Montreal; these are the ones at the top of my list, though of course I love many many more artists out there. Albums that I rate a 10/10 (outside TMBG) include, but are not limited to, the following: Kimono My House, Time, A Night at the Opera, Abbey Road, Hissing Fauna, Skylarking, Songs in the Key of Life, Wish You Were Here, HEY WHAT, Aja, and Fleet Foxes. I am always happy to talk at length about these artists and albums should I be asked.
I am currently a college student; I am a sometimes resident of Atlanta, Georgia, but my home is (relatively recently) across the border in South Carolina. At least I can say I live in a State Songs state now. Very excited for the Atlanta shows coming up; shame they were postponed (though Linnell's health is of course important!), but I might be able to make both shows now...
There should be some kids albums in here too, but I haven't had a chance to see what copies I own exactly. CD? CD/DVD? Do I even own ABCs? Who knows!
