Hi I'm Mel! I've known about TMBG since I was about 6 or 7 but I didn't get into them until 2006. The usual tmbg fan stories I hear are stuff like "I saw the Homestar Runner video" or "I saw their vids on TV". Mine is a little different. I was bored and watching youtube videos that contain clips of my favorite show, Kids in the Hall. One of them used Birdhouse in your soul as the song and I was thinking "Yes! This is my new favorite song!" I slowly became a fan throughout the summer.

Favorite Bands?

This one really doesn't deserve bullets to list my favorite bands, I only listen to 3 others. Besides TMBG, I listen to the Beatles, Barenaked Ladies, and Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard a lot of weird stuff about these other bands I like and certain connections with tmbg. I had a friend tell me that the Barenaked Ladies wanted to tour with They Might Be Giants, but Flansburgh (at least that's who she assumed made the choice) didn't want to tour with them. According to my friend, he was "Being an asshole by not letting them tour." I also heard how an interviewer informed Weird Al Yankovic that the Johns heard his style parody based on them and they were a little upset that they had a style that could be parodied. In response, Al said "Well they are artists and they WOULD say that!" I know, not the usual thing to add in a favorite bands section, but I just find these stories kind of interesting.

ALSO DID YOU KNOW THAT FLANSBURGH LIKE, FUCKING HIT A GUY FROM THE PRESIDENTS OF THE USA! WTF?! I BET HE HIT CHRIS....
