Talk:Thunderbird

From This Might Be A Wiki

Some of the song reminds me of the song James K. Polk.

That line[edit]

The fact that John flipped around the "before you crawl" line on the recorded version kind of makes me want to break things. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD LINE. And the fact that he got it right in the liner notes makes me think he meant to do it the way it had been performed live and just screwed it up and didn't bother to fix it. In my prison cell, my throat is dry[edit]

Anybody else think that the lines around "Man, oh man, my throat is dry / Man, are you thinking what I..." sound suspiciously like the trumpet solo at the start of No One Knows My Plan? --ΰΌΊπ„žπ„†β“†β“€β“”β“›βŽˆβ’Ήβ“žβ“œβ“œβ“β“–β“”π„‡ΰΌ» 23:45, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Death?[edit]

Could "T-bird takes her dad away" be referencing death, perhaps euphemistically? I think it might be worthy of adding to the themes... --MisterMe (talk) 09:45, 5 September 2013 (EDT)

i'm fairly certain that that is referring to a drunken state, or even a dependence on alcohol so strong that our narrator is but a husk of his former fatherly self. i don't think he's dying. -Apollo (colloquia!) 11:20, 5 September 2013 (EDT)

Early dropped line[edit]

I have a recording of the Giants live and one of the lines dropped afterward was: "They devised a plan, they would melt a man and they'd call it Thunderbird, yes they called it Thunderbird".... dropped to avoid litigation from makers of wine?

Uh? How is that any more related to the wine than the rest of the song? --Self Called Nowhere (talk) 21:04, 27 July 2014 (EDT)
because if you swap the words around it's "they devised a man / they would melt a plan" and devising men (cloning???) is severely illegal. Apollo (colloquia!) 18:02, 28 July 2014 (EDT)
