Webcast[edit]

So it turns out this show was webcast on the Nerdapalooza website but somehow none of us knew it was going to be to post it here ahead of time. I only found out a few songs before the end and I'm just wondering if anyone else did happen to catch the whole thing and record audio? --Self Called Nowhere (talk) 16:51, 20 October 2013 (EDT)

The day after they played I went to the website to check out the video player and see if it might be archived somewhere. The mod in the chat there said all of the acts were being recorded and they would post them to YouTube a week or two later. Yesterday I decided to check the status of that. See if they've been posting other bands.
Turns out the organizers went bankrupt with this year's show by trying to grow too big too fast and getting a headliner (TMBG) maybe a bit out of their league. According to that other wiki, they'd been growing by about 200 attenders a year (and actually backpedaled last year) to a max of about 1,000. This year they wanted over 3,500 in attendance. Needed, in fact, to cover the costs of the bands and the upgraded venue. I'm not a concert promoter, but that seems like a rather optimistic figure. Here's what they had to say on their website:
It had our highest attendance yet of 1234, however in order to fully cover our costs we were banking on three times that amount. Our headliners didn’t bring in the attendance we were betting on [...].
Their actual growth was more in line with previous years' and a recent post by the band suggests their shows range from 200 to 2,000 depending on the venue. (If anyone knows what their usual pull actually is, I'd be interested in light of these events.)
Anyway, I hope they (and the 42 other acts) end up getting paid for the gig and I wouldn't expect that video any time soon. --badqueso (talk) 11:19, 6 November 2013 (EST)
