Talk:Outtakes

Why are we seemingly randomly getting rid of half of this list? TitanicFog (talk) 11:47, 2 December 2022 (EST)

BOOK tracks[edit]

Are these actually confirmed outtakes? They were all either mentioned as one-word hints which they said would "possibly not" be on the album, or were just recorded in the same sessions (but not necessarily for the album itself). --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 00:58, 3 December 2022 (EST)

Flansburgh mentioned back in 2011 that they recorded around 30 songs for Join Us before cutting it down to 15; I imagine if they still go by that logic, then a lot of the songs recorded for the BOOK sessions were meant to at least be contenders. I don't think the original idea when recording a song like There Will Be Sad was to send it out as a track on The Pamphlet instead of on their brand new album.--Robot Parade (talk) 04:08, 10 July 2024 (EDT)

arntq[edit]

for reference, possible remaining join us outtakes from arntq:

  • o we
  • authenticity trip
  • marty beller mask
  • now i know
  • how now dark cloud
  • the fellowship of hell
  • mountain flowers

(the rest are either covers, projects for other people like doom doom/100 sbemails, remixes, or other thing)

auth and how now may be new to arntq, per this tweet, but timbits on tmbg jail mentioned "cleanups" could refer to re-recordings for arntq after being rejected from join us

similarly o we was referred to as "floating around for a while. a JL demo that we never knew what to do with" which may or may not deconfirm it depending on what "a while" means (join us recording started in 2009)

info on whether any of these tracks have been explicitly confirmed as not being join us outtakes is welcome --Ncrecc (talk) 05:33, 3 December 2022 (EST)

Category[edit]

This might be a silly suggestion, but I feel like we could make a Category page for this too. It took me a while before I stumbled onto this page, so it might get more people interested in it. It may be redundant, but I don't see the harm --Robot Parade (talk) 04:08, 10 July 2024 (EDT)
