- This live compilation from the Loser's Lounge was recorded at the Fez Under Time Cafe in New York City.
- The album's title is derived in part from the hit 1963 movie, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
- Besides TMBG themselves, other people related to the band are featured. Connie Petruk of STC and Joe McGinty, a more regular member of the Loser's Band, both appear in People Are Wrong!. Flansburgh's wife and People Are Wrong! writer and cast member, Robin Goldwasser, also has a track on the album.
- In addition to being sold on CD, this album also saw release on the 8-track format.
