They Might Be Giants
Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, MO
October 21, 1997
Fan Recaps and Comments:
Review by Kris Maxwell:
- This was a packed show, and I felt like there was barely room to breathe as we all squeezed as close to the stage as possible. Mississippi Nights had a weird layout with multiple levels and tucked-away seating areas, so it felt a lot smaller than it actually was.
- The Johns put on a heck of a show, though, and ran through an impressively long setlist. The most memorable performance was Linnell's oddball segue during the bridge of Particle Man, where he broke into the chorus of "The Sign" by everyone's favorite post-ABBA Swedish pop band Ace of Base. Even more charming was the way he mumbled through the parts he didn't know the words to, just like most of the rest of us.
