"Rocket Ship is the 1992 demo of a song that didn't get any further than this, because the chorus was cannibalized to make Spiraling Shape." doesn't seem quite right to me.. is that a TMBG Unlimited quote or did somebody write it themselves? I mean, it seems more like that RS wasn't rejected because they used the chorus for a later song, just that it was rejected, and then later canablized for the new song. I mean, four years is a long time. Anybody agree? -TDK
Well, obviously the song was rejected, because it never got beyond the demo form. Martorano
If you read what I said again you'll see that I agreed with the fact that they rejected it. What I was questioning was whether or not they had Spiraling Shape in mind when they did. -TDK 20:26, 5 Feb 2006 (CST)
Sorry, didn't mean to sound argumentative ;) I think that's a good question.Martorano
It's from the newsletter. I just added a note on that. -Buschap
Just heard this on dialasong.com. i love how it was a boring, not all that great tmbg song at first, and then, almost randomly, the future spiraling shape chorus pops up, and it becomes instantly recognizable.--4.143.134.145 20:28, 1 Jun 2006 (CDT)
I'm sort of sad that they didn't use this song in any of their albums. I kinda like it. I like this part of the song the most:
Messed up my face when we fell off the sofa
I injured my hair when we fell from the plane
But nothing can hurt me, I have no nerve endings
I lost so much blood that I'm ready to faint -CuppaCoffee 16:41 7 June 2006 (EDT)
I just bought Let It Be (the Beatles), and after I heard "Get Back," I thought its chorus ("get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged") sounded a little too similar to Rocket Ship in the part, "on a trip, on a trip, on a trip inside a ro-uh-cket ship." Has anyone else ever noticed this, or am I just weird like that? ~ magbatz
