Hi. I'm Will, a sophomore at the American School In Japan. I'm not one of the most rabid TMBG fans out there, but I've got a username here and I'm taking time to write this, so I suppose that says something.
I was first introduced to TMBG in september 2003 by Rhinoceros Rex who lent me the original album. I wasn't too impressed, but I enjoyed it. My favorite was Chess Piece Face, which I now think is a rather strange choice given the likes of Don't Lets Start and Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head, but whatever. Another friend also lent me Factory Showroom which I didn't like at all.
A month or so later, that same friend made me a mix with Doctor Worm, Birdhouse In Your Soul, Particle Man, and a couple other classics. I enjoyed it very much, and was pleased when a few months later, she made me another mix with Ana Ng, Istanbul (Not Constantinople), and others.
Still, I thought they were a pretty good band but wasn't particularly interested. However, during the summer of 2004, I purchased Dial-A-Song; 20 Years Of They Might Be Giants and was instantly hooked. A best-of collection was just what I needed to jump-start my fandom. Man, It's So Loud In Here soon became a major favorite.
I got then: the early years a bit later as well, and those 4 cds are the only TMBG paraphernalia I own personally.
Other musical tastes include Simon & Garfunkel, Ben Folds Five/Ben Folds, Cat Stevens, and The Beatles, as well as some of Pink Floyd, The Who, The Eagles, and Weather Report.
