You'll be thinking about me…[edit]

Hello there, my name is Everett and I am an absolute fanatic about They Might Be Giants. Like most people, I heard about them from songs like Birdhouse In Your Soul, Istanbul (Not Constantinople) and Doctor Worm, but I didn't really get into them until my uncle recommended Spider to me. The funny thing is, that is now one of my least favorite They Might Be Giants songs, but without it I’d have no idea these two geniuses exist! Anyways, I could explain my whole life story here but I want this to say at least mostly related to They Might Be Giants.

Avalanche or roadblock…[edit]

Picking a favorite They Might Be Giants song has been insanely hard for me just because of how many they have and how different they all from each other. For my personal favorite I'd have to go with Rhythm Section Want Ad, but the song I think is actually the "best" is probably just The End Of The Tour. For Flansburgh, I think I'm undecided between Snowball In Hell and AKA Driver, although I guess I would go with Snowball In Hell. For my favorite track on each album though…

Here comes my flaming crazy…[edit]

For They Might Be Giants (the album) I have already chosen Rhythm Section Want Ad, but Lincoln is tough. I guess I would chose Where Your Eye's Don't Go because of the lyric "Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't think of." I'm gonna go with Someone Keeps Moving My Chair for Flood, it's just so funny to me. For the first Flansburgh mention, we have My Evil Twin for Apollo 18, I love all the bizarre lyrics jammed inside of it.

To start off the backing band era, I am going to go with The End Of The Tour for John Henry like I already said, and I'd choose How Can I Sing Like A Girl? for Factory Showroom, which is criminally underrated. I love Your Own Worst Enemy though. And while I do not like Long Tall Weekend, Reprehensible is pretty good overall. Also, if you think anything on Mink Car is better than Bangs, I advise you leave this user page very swiftly. You will not be tolerated here.

Four Of Two is so good, I don't know how it ended up on No!. For The Spine, I'd choose Bastard Wants To Hit Me, which is also very underrated. For the more educational kids albums, I'd go with Alphabet Lost And Found for the ABCs, Apartment Four for the 123s and Meet The Elements for Science. Oh yeah, and I'm Impressed is my favorite off The Else. Very unique, very good.

We broke in two, busted through…[edit]

Yes, I had to make this two parts. Nothing can keep Johnny down from this list, and for Nanobots I'd have to say Replicant, which really needs more recognition. It's so creepy, so musically perfect and a perfect length. I used to love Glean, and while I still like it, the only song that still resonates with me the same is Erase. And while I think is Why? is one of their worst albums, Moles, Hounds, Bears, Bees And Hares does rock. Alright we're in the homestretch.

For Phone Power, I Love You For Psychological Reasons is incredible, yet so is I'll Be Haunting You. I'll let you, loyal reader, decide between the two giants listed here. I'd have to go with Push Back The Hands for I Like Fun, although Let's Get This Over With is great, and so is When The Lights Come On! The Communists Have The Music for My Murdered Remains no question, and I guess The Poisonousness for The Escape Team? It's not their strongest album.

For Book, while I love almost everything on it, I'd go with Less Than One. Finally, while I have not had that long with the album at the time of writing, I believe Character Flaw is my favorite from The World Is To Dig, although I do also love Outside Brain, Let's Fall In Lava, Get Down and Slow. Anyways, we are finally done!

It's like a whirlpool, and it never ends…[edit]

Now, for my satisfaction, I'm gonna have to talk about all the compilation albums, at least the ones that I consider worthy. First, we have to mention Miscellaneous T and thus Then: The Earlier Years. For the Pink Album sections, I'd go with When It Rains It Snows, and for the Lincoln sections I'd chose It's Not My Birthday, which is an honorary mention on the best songs list from earlier.

Unfortunately, I am not as familiar with the TMBG Unlimited selection as I would like to me so I'll have to skip those, but I can say that Rest Awhile is my favorite from They Got Lost! Now, Venue Songs is so weird I don't know if it is a live album or not, but no matter what it is I love Pittsburgh and Asheville, aka Mr. Small's and The Orange Peel. Also, I'd go with We Live In A Dump for Cast Your Pod To The Wind.

For Album Raises New And Troubling Questions, I'd chose Now I Know, which needs to be recognized as one of the great Linnell tracks from recent times! Once again, I need to listen to John Henry Demos more for complete certainty, but I do like the demo of I Should Be Allowed To Think. Now, what about EP's?

Clouds above us gather and a thunderstorm is nigh…[edit]

When It Rains It Snows and It's Not My Birthday still apply to Don't Let's Start and They'll Need A Crane, but for (She Was A) Hotel Detective I'd go with the alternate version of Kiss Me, Son Of God. For the other Lincoln EP's, there are too many crossovers and versions so I'm just gonna skip them. Ant for Birdhouse In Your Soul and Stormy Pinkness for Istanbul (Not Constantinople) though.

The Statue Got Me High EP only has I'm Def, which I do not like, so take of that what you will. I'm gonna chose Cabbagetown for I Palindrome I though, and nothing beats Welcome To The Jungle! Back To Skull has She Was A Hotel Detective on it, so that's an automatic win, and Unforgotten destroys everything else on S-E-X-X-Y.

Long Tall Weekend, Mink Car and No! did not really have EP's (unless you count Working Undercover For The Man, in which Rest Awhile would win again), but The Spine Surfs Alone exists! Now Is Strange is pretty epic. Oh yeah, and I do not like They Might Be Giants In Holidayland, so don't ask. Up The Junction is the best on Four Covers From TMBG, Nanobots EP has nothing original, The Avatars Of They are not my favorite and I guess I would go with Oranges for Songs For Chop.

And now the song is over now…[edit]

Finally, There Will Be Sad is my favorite from The Pamphlet EP and Eyeball is my favorite from… well Eyeball! I also wanted to briefly mention the solo albums and my favorites off them. For Unsupervised, I like Unsupervised, I Hit My Head and for It's Fun To Steal, I guess I'd chose Backstabbing Liar. I definitely can't chose for State Songs, but I do love Montana, Arkansas and Maine.

Alright, well I have blabbed for way yonder's too long. I hope you enjoyed my opinions and at least kinda agreed. I could keep going about all the other wondrous tracks. But I'd just suggest that you listen to them on your own time. Have a great day and make a birdhouse in your soul. Goodbye!
