The List According To Marty Beller
From This Might Be A Wiki
The List According to Marty Beller is a list, compiled by TMBG's current drummer, Marty Beller, of things the members of the band are not permitted to say within the group. Some of these entries are historic, some more recent, some contributed by other They Might Be Giants band members and Pat Dillett.
The List According to Marty Beller[edit]
- too much information
- off the hook
- that’s what (s)he said
- my bad
- game changer
- crackberry
- that’s how we roll
- I can’t work under these conditions
- playing the (whatever) card
- throw under the bus
- drinking the kool-aid
- LOL
- phone tag
- don’t go there
- it’s all good
- it is what it is
- talk to the hand
- think outside the box
- off the reservation
- oh no you didn’t
- I threw up a little in my mouth
- one hundred and ten percent
- IMHO
- no worries (No worries enjoys a unique "workplace dispensation" where it can be used with a co-worker to help decompress a work situation.)
- jumped the shark
- voted off the island
- (anything) on acid
- (anything) from hell
- (anything) on steroids
- literally (unless it’s actually used properly) - later, the Johns like literally incorporated this one in a song
In December of 2011,[1] the following entries were added:
- fail
- let's be honest
- no question about it
- The Intersports Analogy ("The quarterback just threw a home run ball")
- it is what it is (rerun)
- good times (from the west coast office headed by Michelle Lewis)
- game on
- that's dope (unless you are under 30)
Of course, the list itself is now on the list.
For a time, the band encouraged fans to add suggestions to the List in the comment section of TMBG's Myspace page. However, that site is no longer available.
