Worst song[edit]

This is likely the worst song I've ever heard --liam (wtf?) 02:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

While it's by no means the worst song I've ever heard, it's always been my least favorite on Lincoln. It's just so dull and meaningless and flashy and throwaway. ~ magbatz 02:43, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Right, probably the worst song is something played on black metal or modern rock stations. I just think it's such a bad song, right in the middle of such great songs and breaks the flow of the album. It makes me so angry for some reason, especially, "WHY MUST SHE CLIMB ON HIS KNEE?" --liam (wtf?) 02:51, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
gotta agree, this is definitely the worst song off of this fantastic album. I think that you’ll miss me gets too much hate when people are just vibing with this trash. SorryForHittingYourEye (talk)
I know it's probably the worst song on the album, but I like it ironically. WHY MUST SHE CLIMB ON HIS KNEE???? --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 01:17, 12 April 2022 (EDT)
I don't mean to be that guy but I disagree with everyone here, I really like this song. Great instrumentals and the funny lyrics are great. Sure, it's not usual TMBG, but I enjoy listening to it a lot. Not the worst song on the album at all. TitanicFog (talk) 15:34, 29 April 2022 (EDT)
Yeah, I like it too actually, there really aren't any bad songs on Lincoln. --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 01:42, 30 April 2022 (EDT)
Counterpoint, I present to you the Lincoln version of You'll Miss Me!--You&Me!! (talk) 14:15, 1 May 2022 (EDT)
Well, that one's a good departure from form. --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 01:09, 2 May 2022 (EDT)
You'll Miss Me is just awful. if only it were modeled after one of the demos. Santa's Beard is pretty great in my opinion despite not having any lyrical depth, though the lyrics about climbing on knees suck especially. --Notshi0 (talk) 18:25 July 9 2022 (EDT)
What about the intro? (On You'll Miss Me) --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 21:04, 9 July 2022 (EDT)
LukeHennisch alt account You'll Miss Me is great. TitanicFog (talk) 18:49, 9 July 2022 (EDT)
the beat of You'll Miss Me is fine. the screaming, however, is grating. paired with the disgusting, off-tune brass, it's worse than anything on any other TMBG song. the parts without the instrumentation and screaming still end up being bad, with a notable mention to the end, which I even disliked in the far superior early versions. of course, this is all subjective. i don't really care about whether or not you like it. --Notshi0 (talk) 19:26 July 9 2022 (EDT)
For off-tune, try Heptone. --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 21:05, 9 July 2022 (EDT)

Another Version[edit]

I downloaded a version of Santa's Beard on a website a couple months ago and it has a length of 1:15??? Can anyone tell me if they have this version too? It sounds like the album version but its shorter. --Goodtimes2 17:53, October 14, 2007

iTunes[edit]

Just thought I'd let it be known, this song has been included on iTunes playlist of "iTunes Essential: Alternative Christmas". --Jade 16:46, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Bass tab[edit]

While I was doing the bass tab, I thought that it sounded really familiar, but I couldn't figure out why, so I was just playing it and my mom pointed out that part of the verse sounds exactly like "Summer Nights" from Grease. -Apollo (colloquia!) 19:23, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Preston Penn[edit]

Not likely to be a precursor (who knows?), but there was another song (besides the Beach Boys one) called "Santa's Beard" by a children's author named Preston Penn. It can be heard on this Sound Opinions broadcast around the 23:00 mark. --Nehushtan (talk) 09:18, 22 May 2014 (EDT)

Mr Tuck's thoughts[edit]

One of my favourite Christmas songs, a kind of 80s version of I saw Mummy kissing Santa Claus. Great lyrics and melody, it's a hidden gem. I've often wondered what it would sound like with a kind of American Songbook swing melody. It could be a big hit for someone. (Mr Tuck) 14:30, December 11, 2016
