Talk:Lincoln (Band)
Any reviews of this, any fans out there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shwabro (talk • contribs) 01:03, September 17, 2007
- You know, I wouldn't mind hearing a review as well. I remember seeing them open for TMBG in 98, and I don't really remember them being anything special- kind of boring in fact. Now that I know Dans Miller and Weinkauf are in the band I'd be interested in giving them another chance with a more critical ear! --Oddjob 13:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I love this CD[edit]
Me and my brother got a chance to see them durring a WARPED tour and we purchased the CD we liked them so much. I think it may have been 97 or 98 cant remember but I listen to it every now and then and it makes me smile. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.182.64.153 (talk) 00:07, March 27, 2009
Making an album/song pages for the band?[edit]
I know neither of the Johns were in the band, but I feel it'd fit well with the wiki. I'd like to see lyrics (I know they're out there already)/guitar tabs/interpretations/trivia on the songs. I'll help create a majority of the pages if this can get approved. -- Jason DeLima - ♥! - 23:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Any admins wish to respond to this? -- Jason DeLima - ♥! - 22:03, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- i had a quick discussion with brad about this a number of months ago, he recommended against it for a couple of reasons, one of which is that of demarcation; right now our policy is to only include songs that one of the johns has performed on. if we include the lincoln stuff (which i don't think is a bad idea in and of itself), it opens up the door for a flood of things that may or may not be worthy of inclusion, which i think would lead to a difficult and conclusionless debate. that's my take on it, at least. -- 22:37, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, true. If a song doesn't really have much to do with TMBG, (not performed with them, not partly written by them, etc.) it shouldn't go on the wiki. ?:-) We have an answer from an admin now! -- Buzzmusic100 ("Keep your voice down...")
- Ok, good. :^) -- Buzzmusic100 ("Keep your voice down...")
Fantastic album[edit]
Top 5 Desert Island album kind of good...some people have said they didn't like this album at first but it grew on them. I might have fit into that category, I can't really remember it has been so long (15 years? Man, I am aging). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.129.145.82 (talk) 12:31, June 27, 2012
- Well, having just given it a listen, I wouldn't go so far as to call it "fantastic". The lead singer's vocals come across as affected at best, and whiny at worst. Not to say our favorite Johns don't have nasally tones, but this guy really seemed to go out of his way to bring a Flansburghian warble. The lyrics are intriguing here and there, but can occasionally sound too precious. I really wish I could say more about the music, but it just seems a little undistinguished. The guitar parts are just fine and get the job done, but I could barely make out the bass lines. Miller and Weinkauf have both turned into better musicians since their days in Lincoln, thank goodness! Overall, it's a fairly average '90s indie rock album, really only notable for helping to launch the careers of our beloved Dans. It's still worthwhile enough to give it a listen though. --MisterMe (talk) 12:06, 24 July 2019 (EDT)
