Talk:It's Not My Birthday

From This Might Be A Wiki

This might be my favorite song by TMBG. Seriously. --Checkers Piece Face

i like it very much so, but i wouldn't call it my favorite. -- nosaj56

Yeah, it really is a great song. I love the guitar during the chorus... it would be nice if someone could tab that... -- Garnavis

It's one of my favorites...some of my all-time favorite lyrics. - Overjoy

Is the first verse a reference to MacArthur Park by Richard Harris? If so it should be noted.

I've always thought about that, also. Added a trivia bullet to the page. :) -CapitalQtalk ♪ 20:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I can't find any note on tmbw that this appears on the tmbg.com News page. Should it be mentioned, and if so what page? Tedadore2

It is mentioned on the download page. --Luke 03:03, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh yeah, of course. Tedadore2

Has it been noted anywhere that on the Happy Birthday from TMBG page, the text reads "IT'S NOT MY BIRTHDAY, from They Might Be Giants album Lincoln," despite the fact that this song does NOT appear on that album? --Mosesofthecows 21:03, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Quiet thump?[edit]

The "quiet thump" eludes me. I just don't hear it "about ten seconds [in]." -- DidgeGuy (आ ज) 22:30, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I thiiiink I hear it. Closer to 11 or 12 seconds. Artifacts come in all shapes and sizes, some less audible or mistake-sounding than others, but I'm sure it would be visible if you looked at a screenshot of the sound wave representation thing that I am unfamiliar with. -Apollo. 22:55, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
I brought it up as a sound wave representation, I listened to it a dozen times, and I still don't hear it. The closest thing I could get in that time frame was a thing that I could very well possibly have been imagining. And if what I'm hearing is the actual thing, I think it's way to soft to be worth mention. -- DidgeGuy (आ ज) 23:10, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't hear it! --༺𝄞𝄆Ⓠⓤⓔⓛ⎈Ⓓⓞⓜⓜⓐⓖⓔ𝄇༻ 23:28, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
it does actually show in the waveform. it happens right around 10.61 seconds into the track i have that i ripped from the original CD. it is fairly quiet, but it's certainly a goof that they have never fixed. --ant 23:31, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Thought that was just what happens when he says "A" and when the guitar plays that. -- DidgeGuy (आ ज) 00:45, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
I hear something when he says "Crumbles (weird noise) like a cake". Is that it? --Fuzy2K 01:03, 18 June 2012 (EDT)
That's the one - it sounds like someone lightly tapping a microphone. I don't think you'd hear it if you weren't listening for it frankly. --Markhiggins (talk) 21:12, 31 October 2013 (EDT)
