Fan Recaps and Comments:[edit]
From the Sudbury Town Crier:
Members of the Martin Luther King Project at Lincoln-Sudbury High School can’t think of a better way to use the proceeds from last month’s They Might Be Giants concert than to use it for a teen AIDS hotline.
The concert was held in memory of James McIntyre, who attended L-S for several years and who died in 1986 from AIDS at age 25. John Flansburgh and John Linnell, members of They Might Be Giants and L-S graduates, were two of McIntyre’s best friends.

Jimmy’s mother and father, who lives in Virginia, attended the sell-out concert which was held May 1 in the L-S auditorium. Students were shouting, cheering and dancing on chairs to the resounding music. Crawford said the family was honored that their son was remembered in such a unique and special way. After the concert when Crawford called Jimmy’s mother to ask how she wanted the proceeds used, Jimmy’s mother suggested that Crawford call the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts. The AAC was planning to launch a teen hotline called YO Line, and welcomed the money.

The concert actually raised about $6,000 after expenses. Besides the $3,000 going toward the YO Line, $1,050 will be split between three soup kitchens: Pine Street Inn, Haley House and Boston Food Bank. Another $2,000 will be used for Habitat for Humanity building supplies and for scholarships for MLK students.
