Obviously, it's about a clone of a historical figure. The narrator, who cloned him is mocking him in good taste, while admiring his work. Maybe Counterfeit Faker is a sequel-the clone could turn evil.
I think it could be about some reporters trying to get in touch with an impersonator of some historical figure who's dead to tell them that writers got some information wrong about the figure. I analyzed each lyric despite the song being repetitive.
Hey, hey
Trying to get the impersonator's attention.
Counterfeit fake
They call them that because well, obviously the impersonator is not actually the real person.
History wants you, they made a mistake
This line really adds a turn to the song and leads me to more interpretation. Because really, what could it mean? The reporters are telling this impersonator to switch up because writers may have gotten a lot or only some information wrong about the person they're impersonating as.
Hey, hey, counterfeit fake History wants you, they made a mistake Hey, hey, counterfeit fake History wants you, they made a mistake
The repetition of both lines shows that this person may not be listening or doesn't care. They're a freestyle impersonator, they do what they want! ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Other than that, I don't know what this 39 second song could be about. Could just be another play at words like the Giants always do.
