Recently we did a recording called I've Been Seeing Things, and JL wanted me to do essentially a "noise" solo in a break and in the rave up ending. For some reason, I felt a little shy about trying to reproduce the kind of things I do in heat of live performance in a recording studio--it just doesn't feel the same--so I took a rough mix to my project studio and tracked what I though was a pretty cross-eyed mess of thing[s] that both delivered a suitable amount of chaos but would hold up beyond the moment of performance. But upon delivery John expressed that he need MORE, and kind of acted out the choppy free-time mandolin-like move that we both knew so well from the more unhinged live moments in Spy, etc. I had to commit to it, and just attack the guitar in this most extreme way. While the results really aren't very pleasant, I am glad that he pushed it to the next level. Especially the end part in the rave up section, I feel like we got to something that really is a part of us that we have barely captured in recordings up until now.
- First released alongside "The Communists Have The Music" on streaming services as a single in September 2018, and then later released on Dial-A-Song in October.
- A different mix of the song was originally uploaded to YouTube for Dial-A-Song, featuring synth horns in place of the lead guitar during the bridge and outro. On November 10th, the video was removed and a new version was uploaded, identical to that of the single release.
- The YouTube video was produced, directed, and filmed by Peter Ahlberg, Madelene Wikskär, and Paul Sahre, with photogrammetry by Ivin Ballen and Lenscloud.
