"Shitty Beatles"

I think JL took the name "The Shitty Beatles" from Wayne's World... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.248.55.248 (talk) 14:30, February 7, 2007

Yeah, I read that on here. It's still a Beatles reference, though (especially in the context the quote was originally in). -CapitalQtalk ♪ 21:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Wearing a Raincoat

Am I crazy, or does Wearing a Raincoat sound a bit Beatle-ish? Background vocals and all... --Luke 23:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Off the top of my head, I can see a couple similarities with Fixing A Hole, but that might just be because of the slightly psychadelic lyrics. Also, very neat page-- it seems very TMBG-relevant, so maybe it could have its own title-page. And maybe add a short bio or something. ~ magbatz 23:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Ringo walk

Don't forget the Johns' tendancy to refer to their solo work as their "Ringo walk projects". Also, Don't Worry Kyoko... does that count? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.131.250.134 (talk) 15:56, February 10, 2007

Real page?

How 'bout making this a real page? ~ magbatz 01:15, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Think it's actually deserving? I really just made it to keep track of stuff and maybe intrigue a few people with a compendium of odd observations. Are you thinking article or song theme (hypothetically speaking)? -CapitalQtalk ♪ 01:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Probably song theme. And then we can put a little blurb about the Beatles themselves at the top. But yeah, I don't see why it can't be a real page-- the Giants are definitely influenced by them, and a good number of songs (as you proved on this page) reference them. ~ magbatz 01:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Goodnight

Maybe this is just me, but I'm not too sure Goodnight My Friends is a reference to the song "Goodnight". Anyone agree? -- Buzzmusic100 ("Keep your voice down...")

Float Upstream

"Tell me that you like my float upstream" - I'm thinking this might be a lyrical reference to the "I'm Only Sleeping" line, "stay in bed, float upstream". It doesn't seem like a very common phrase, and most Google results for "float upstream" or "float up stream" are related to the Beatles lyric. What do you guys think? -CapitalQtalk ♪ 13:07, 2 September 2014 (EDT)

I'd say there's a good chance it was done in homage. Maybe you could ask Flans on Twitter to ask JL if that was the intention? --MisterMe (talk) 14:59, 6 September 2014 (EDT)
He never asks him anything, though. When people ask something related to one of his songs he just says "That would be a question for JL" but doesn't actually pass it along to him. As for the original question, personally I don't think there's enough evidence for it. --Self Called Nowhere (talk) 16:43, 6 September 2014 (EDT)

George Martin

Flans gave a very interesting response when asked if TMBG would have ever wanted to work with the legendary producer of the Beatles. Check it out here.[1] --MisterMe (talk) 08:41, 9 July 2018 (EDT)
