Talk:Super-Human Qualities

Haunted Floating Eye
in my opinion, both being a "floating eye", and being born 100 years ago, particuarly if you are still alive today to narrate a song, would clarify one as super-human, or at the very least supernatural... anyone else want to weigh in on this? --ant 15:52, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you ask me, being nothing but an eye would qualify you as sub-human. Either that, or someone with a full set of body parts would be "super-eye". --Oddjob 16:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with Oddjob on what the theme should be. The theme of superhuman qualities requires, IMO, that the subject is human or has basically human qualities. But I disagree with Ant and Oddjob on the subject of the song. I believe the song is about someone who is half-human and half-spider, though the half-human part is more open to interpretation. The character's not the floating eye; he's the one who was born in a crypt 100 years ago, whose mother is a spider, and who spent time as a shill in a traveling circus/freakshow attraction (until he killed someone). I don't know what that really has to do with wanting to hang out with a haunted floating eye, but to get back to the point, the character could be human enough to be regarded as having a super-human quality (as some sort of Spider Man). But, since in this case we don't exactly know the taxonomy of our freakish hero, I think it's better to include "Freaks" or "Animals" or "Supernatural" as themes of the song than "Super-Human Qualities." We'd have to find the identity of the father. ~ magbatz 21:07, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- i was just going off of the title and the literal lyrics, i didn't look at any interpretations, nor have i listened to the song in a long while, so nevermind, i guess --ant 22:31, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- The whole "analysis" thing here is pretty much tongue-in-cheek anyway. --Oddjob 16:58, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- There is nothing tongue-in-cheek about the importance of paternity testing in this day and age. ~ magbatz 18:59, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Does Finished With Lies belong here? The narrator seems to have the delusion that he has powers like telepathy (although Mr. Linnell/the narrator seems to mistake telepathy for telekinesis) --ΰΌΊππββ€ββββΉββββββπΰΌ» 19:33, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
