Talk:Let's Get This Over With

From This Might Be A Wiki

Middling

Incredibly wordy, a kind of jokey song about nihilism, the simple piano riff struggles to sustain interest over three minutes (it feels longer - never a good sign). The song reminds me of an info-commericial in a weird way, or a song from an off-broadway musical and is obvious attempt to move away from the traditional late period Giants rocker. Ultimately its monotomy means one really can't wait to get this song over with. An odd opener for the album. (Mr Tuck) 11:15, January 20, 2018

An infomercial?! Looking to tweak other Giants fans again, eh Mr Tuck? Maybe things are different in the UK but I can't say I've heard an infomercial like this. At 3 minutes, it sounds exactly the right length to my ears. As for "middling", well...can't help you there. That's just something you'll have to live with, as your low opinion of the song appears to be in the minority based on the first couple months of user ratings here on the wiki. --MisterMe (talk) 14:20, 14 February 2018 (EST)

Agreed. I'm in the minority on this one. (Mr Tuck)

Apophenia

Is it just me or does this song sound a lot like Apophenia?--Bonkava (talk) 00:00, 8 February 2018 (EST)

Both songs open an album, and both songs are sung by John Linnell, but other than that, I don't see much in common. The tempos are different; this song has an intriguing backup vocal, a nice piano and organ part, and it's supported by handclaps, none of which "Apophenia" have. So, I respectfully disagree. --MisterMe (talk) 14:20, 14 February 2018 (EST)
I'm with you, Bonkava. The "The drum gets louder" and "That is crazy" parts are nearly identical. Tisher (talk) 16:18, 13 March 2018 (EDT)
Erase as well for me. I think they all are great openers and sound similar in parts. Giants Jubilee Mightathon (talk) 11:26, 22 May 2020 (EDT)
