Interpretations:What's That Blue Thing Doing Here?

From This Might Be A Wiki

Interpretation 1

John wonders what that blue thing is doing here. Where exactly 'here' is is unclear. Anatole the Vampire 21:22, March 2, 2005

Interpretation 2

This is a song about Creationism, and God's first words after the apparently unintended creation, and subsequent discovery, of the planet Earth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.18.102.135 (talkcontribs) 08:36, December 4, 2005

Interpretation 3

I doubt the "blue thing" is anything. It's just a 10 second song. ~AgentChronon 15:39, August 23, 2006

Interpretation 4

But then again, it could be a parable about the birth of Cookie Monster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.213.165.122 (talkcontribs) 21:37, September 10, 2006

Interpretation 5

Or of course the blue piece of paper that I wrote a pome on (pome is not a mispelling) ~AgentChronon 16:45, September 12, 2006

Interpretation 6

Clearly, it's a shout-out (and possibly slam at) Suzanne Vega- one of her first breakout songs was "Small, Blue Thing". One of the Giants has it in for her, and this is questioning her place in the music world.

Either that, or they're into Dr. Who, and the TARDIS is conspicuous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.156.69.87 (talkcontribs) 14:26, November 30, 2006

Interpretation 7

This song is about that blue thing and what it is doing here. --Salio-Shally 23:38, June 14, 2008

Pure brilliance. Time to get you on a military committee analyzing intelligence chatter. But it can only analyze unexpected blue objects. --MisterMe 13:27, 19 November 2012 (EST)

Interpretation 8

It's obviously about an extremely off course skydiver who is, in fact, about to drown. --Valerie 02:35, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Nasty Water

I've always imagined it as one of those blue toilet pucks. ~Brian Griffin 21:25, August 31, 2011

Me Too

"Blue Thing" has made me think of the TARDIS as well.

Interpretation 11

Could be a reference to Birdhouse In Your Soul, as the canary nightlight was blue, and ‘here’ could be the outlet by the light switch, or if strangely placed, in a birdhouse in your soul, or literally anywhere else which would cause someone to exclaim because they were not expecting a glowing blue canary in that location.
